Ok, when I first purchased Physique 57, I thought, ok a magic workout. What I mean by magic workout is that I wanted it to change my body without putting in the effort. I floundered each week, a workout here, a workout there. But as time went on and summer was approaching, I knew I had to really put the time in and go for it. It got better and better with each use and I actually wanted to workout. Well, ladies, if you put the time in 2-4 x a week, you WILL get fabulous results!!!! I just tried on bikinis that looked horrible on me a couple years ago, they now fit and look great! I am so proud of the work I put into it, only 2-4 x a week ladies!! If you put your mind to it and take 57 minutes a couple of times a week out for yourself, you will be one happy girl! Good luck.
Toning up quickly!
I have been doing the workouts three times a week for about two weeks, in addition to some moderate cardio. I am seeing great results already! The workouts are challenging and fun. I feel sore the next day in places I haven't felt in years! My waist looks slimmer and my arms are more defined. I look forward to these workouts, and plan to be in bathing suit shape in a few more weeks!
I am using the Physique 57 system to get in shape after my 2nd child. This system is awesome & has given me great results. I lost a pound a week using the 57 minute DVD twice a week, and one of the other 30 minute DVDs twice a week (so working out a total of 3 hours a week). I did not reduce my caloric intake at all, I just ate what I normally eat and added the workouts. I firmed up all over, especially my core, thighs and seat. This workout is fun, has great music, and you really feel the burn. I've done other barre-style workouts, and this one is by far my favorite. It is fast-paced, so you never get bored. I have also increased my flexibility and can now do the splits on both legs! It has great stretching after every section (arms, thighs, seat, abs) and then a longer final stretch at the end. Yes, the instructor talks through the entire workout, but I find her really motivating. The only downside is that the ball that comes with the set REEKS! It's some sort of weird plastic smell. After a month it still smells a little. I just use one of my daughter's playground balls instead.
I would call this a moderate level workout: it took me 2 week to be able to do the 57 minute DVD all the way though.
I had to write a review on this because it has such high ratings and I think it's just okay. Yes you feel the burn while doing it, but I was not sore the next day like I am when doing new Beach Body programs. After doing the program 8 times I did not notice tightning like I thought I would. With B.B. and Jillian I notice a difference after a few work outs. So I think this program is okay to do at home, but I think you must get better results with the live classes in New York. Maybe because they can show you the proper form to get the best results.
Wow--- feel the burn
I just popped in the arm sculpt and ab workout after receiving the DVD's yesterday. I truly felt the burn. I had to take several breaks and I was doing the modified version! This is a great workout and time flew by. I used 5 lb weights but it calls for a light set of weights also. She kept me motivated to keep pushing on. I'm sure I will be sore tomorrow.
I really like this workout. As previous reviews, you will definitely feel sore after each workout. I feel that you can gradually work your way up to advanced, so I dont forsee myself getting bored as quickly as I do with other exercise videos.
Not a bad workout
I have been doing the barre/pilates method workout for over a year now and wanted to try something new. For me, this was not that different from the barre method. I totally agree with the other reviewer stating that the instructor Tanya is very corny. For me personally, it was irritating. I felt that for a workout that is ballet/barre method based, the pace is too fast and you do not stretch the worked muscles right after an intense workout. I have found that this is the key to getting those long lean muscles is streching right after such an intense workout. These workouts do not have enough stretching nor do they talk about proper form nearly enough. The ab routine did not cause my abs to burn like they do with my older workouts - I did like Shelly's instructions however. She explains things well without being corny. I was also disapointed to find that one DVD has a scratch in it so it does not play properly. To make things even more interesting, one of the DVD cases arrived broken. I suppose this is the workout worlds way of telling me to stick with what has been working for me. Happy for those of you that are loving P57.

Oh my Goodness
I just tried this workout today for the first time. Honestly, I really want to send it back because it kicked my butt. I did it with my mother which is 68 years young and I hate to say that she lasted longer than I did. Nonetheless, I know that in a few weeks using this workout I will be in the shape that I want. Therefore, I am keeping it!!!!
I've been using P57 for 6 months now and have noted a big difference in my stomach, arms and butt. I typically just use the classic dvd but have tried all four. It's a great workout to get you toned without the bulk. I do the classic workout 2-3 times a week and cardio most other days. I tried the jillian micheals, p90x and other dvds before this but this is the only one I've stuck with. Mostly because I love how I feel after. It's definitely not a cardio workout (you never feel out of breath) but I can feel my muscles working and feel smaller even right after I finish. The moves are different and I can feel muscle groups that are completely different than ones you'd work in typical strength building classes. I've recommended to all my friends and am back buying it for my sister. She told me my abs looked the best they have since I was doing gymnastics 5 times a week back in 8th grade.
I have been exercising regularly for 6 months and have been doing these videos for the last month now. I love them all and they are very effective. I can't believe the changes in my body. I use 5 and 8 lb weights. I alternate these videos with my run/ walk days. I also like Jillian Michael's " no more trouble zones". You will not be disappointed with these physique 57 videos. The instructors are very good at explaining how you should hold your body, etc.
First of all, this is my first time ever giving a review but I do enjoy reading them because they help when searching for new workout DVDs. I've been using the DVDs for about two months and am very happy with my results. Before this program, I was using Ballet Body (Arms, Lower Body). I liked the workouts but my butt was getting flat and I like to look like I have a butt. Physique 57 has really helped lift my butt and has made it very visible. It has also helped tone my thighs, hamstrings, and calves. The ab section of the 57 minute full body workout is fantastic. My abs are looking flatter which is something I really needed after having my son. I have recommended this program to various people because I have raved about it and because they have seen my results.
