Not what expected
Major reason for returning is not liking coffee/espresso - recipes that I was interested in trying had these as ingredients.

Yummy
Lots of great recipes! I did however think the book was going to go into more baking techniques than what it did.

Have used my husband and 91 year old dad as my "tasters"-they love what I make out of this great cookbook.

Family thinks I'm a genius!!
This cookbook stays in the kitchen on the cookbook stand where I proudly display my go to book for really wonderful recipes from scratch. The sunny lemon bars are a show stopper. Yes, the recipes call for butter, half & half, and cream but the end results are so yummy..just ask the grandkids. The nana puddin was the absolute best I have ever had. My husband agrees. Now I've made it a personal challenge to try at least half of these recipes before the end of the year. All I can say is BAKE ON, CHERYL, BAKE ON!!!

cup cakes... and other items
I love to cook but had really hoped that this cook book would bring it home with bakery goods.... spent a lot of money buying ingredients and the final product was really not worth the cost.. so sorry - but really was disappointed..

Finally cooking from Scratch recipes - YUMMY
There are 3 of us who cook in our household, we all work full time jobs, feed 5-8 people constantly and we have dinner guests occasionally. We have made approx. 50% of the recipe's in this book so far and have yet to have anything that was less that GREAT!!! Yes, some of the recipes have quite a few ingredients - but this is exactly what has been missing in our food recipes these days. If you want 3-5 ingredients buy something out of a box or pre-made somewhere. Simply put: you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR -OR- WHAT YOU PUT IN TO IT .The Nana Pudding, Red Velvet Cake, Chocolate Cake and (my personal favorite) the Bread Pudding are absolutely to die for.
The food in this book is fabulous! Everyone and I mean everyone who has partaken of the resulting food from this book have continually commented that this is what food SHOULD taste like - homemade from scratch.

Love, love, love this cookbook!
If you're looking for a cookbook with lots of yummy recipes to make for dessert, this is it!
Another reviewer mentioned they made the buttercream and could taste the sugar granules. The recipe calls for confectioner's sugar which has no granules. Maybe they used regular sugar by mistake? I made the recipe and it is excellent!

Two experienced cooks couldn't do it
I couldn't wait to get this book in time for Easter,I wanted to make the nana pudding. The ingredients were over $20.00. The shortbread cookies you make and crumble in were very good(uses 1 lb. butter) But the actual pudding recipe didn't come out right.Tried to make it twice. When cooking it on the stove it was to set up in 5-7 minutes, couldn't get it to set up in over thirty minutes. My friend and I have over 90 years cooking experience between us,even cooking in resturants and could not get this recipe to come out right! An expensive failure.

Inspires you to bake and cook
This is just a solid, yet inspirational cookbook. The artwork and phtotography are beautiful, and the authors send out a nice vibe. A good cookbook should get you charged up to actually do the recipes, and this one does.
