F08146 - AeroPilates Level 2 Set of 2 DVDs Simply Cardio and Pure
I get that the pilates workout is supposed to be calming, so I understand that Marjolin is not the least bit engaging. And I understand that it's best to move quickly from one move to the next, but this is ridiculous. She just goes to the next move and is explaining the position you should be in, how to hold the straps, whatever, WHILE she is doing the ten reps on screen. By the time you've figured out what you're supposed to be doing, she is on the eighth rep and you've just started -- and there is absolutely no gap between the moves! so she's on to the next one before you're done with the one you're doing! Sometimes I complain that I'm tired of Tony Horton's voice on the P90X workouts because I've done them so often, but it would be great if, like Tony, Marjolin would give us ten seconds to get into the right position for the next move.
Secondly, this significant flaw in the video sequence is compounded by the fact that the DVD was made so cheaply that there is no pause, no reverse, no nothing. Not even "play." It just starts. If you hit "pause," it goes back to the beginning of the video. If you hit "next" for the next sequence, you discover that the entire workout is the one and only segment on the DVD, and the entire workout starts over at the beginning. At this price, the DVDs should have some navigation features. You can buy a full-length feature film with extras and "bonus features" for less than this DVD set. Stamina's profit margin is ginormous on this product, to the detriment of the customer. I hope to be able to memorize the workout in time to be able to send the DVDs back. Too bad it will cost me to do so; I don't like paying to return a poor product.
Pleased with this purchase
I really enjoy these DVDs as I wanted to learn some new things in addition to the beginner set I received with my AeroPilates machine. The only drawback is that the DVD isn't menu-driven like the beginner set. You have to fast forward to the segments you want to do (if you skip certain sections like I do when I'm short on time). I wish they were selectable.
I find the instructions very clear, the quality of the video is excellent and hope they keep coming out with more!
Love this dvd set!
I love this dvd set. I think it is easier to follow then the level 1 set. I enjoy AeroPilates & like using dvds for a more complete workout. I like the fact it is 2 seperate dvds. 1 for the pilates & 1 for the cardio. Thankyou Marjolein!
Not worth the money
I found the Pilates DVD poorly made. The change from one position to another was so fast and the instruction so poor that I used it for a week and haven't touched it since. I do use the cardio DVD on a daily basis and like it. I wish they would sell the pilate and cardio DVDs separately. I wouldn't waste my money on another set.
First of all, the description of this item says that the cardio dvd is 38 minutes and the pure pilates is 17 minutes. The reverse is actually true. The cardio is only 17 minutes and the pure pilates is 38 minutes. If the definition of cardio workout is to get your heart rate up, this dvd does not do this at all. it is not long enough or strenuous enough to elevate your heart rate. That was a disappointment. The pure pilates was good especially for the arms, but it ends very abruptly. I think the dvd's that came with my reformer were better thought out. I'm not sure if I will keep these dvd's. I do LOVE my reformer, though. I wish the additional dvds were better.
Stick with it and see the difference!
After a year on the level I workout, I switched up to this workout and four weeks later I am AMAZED! The first week of using the workout I told my husband it was almost too easy, the second and following weeks I started to feel the BURN and my physique was getting more defined! I just love pilates and believe this workout is awesome and more challenging as you develop the muscles for pose! THANK YOU Marjolene!
Excellent Workout and Buy
I would give this 5 stars. This is a great workout. I am 60 years old, have had the pilates machine 2 years, workout approximately 4 to 5 times a week. This second cardio workout is excellent. I like the way she tells you the number of cords to use for each section. The original cardio workout used two cords all the way through. I can feel the intensity increase with the change of cords, making the workout much more effective. My core strength has improved since I received this approximately two months ago. I found having the workout not intergrated was more to my liking, since I did not have to stop and change the end pieces of equipment. The Pure pilates workout is also excellent, advises you to change cords and therefore has increased strength in my shoulders, arms, and entire body. I have mastered these level 2 videos and gone to the third series. I can do both, but find this to be the one I do most often. Since beginning Pilates I have managed to increase my physical strength, although I have several physical challenges.
Loved the Pure Pilates DVD, but Not the Cardio DVD
I preferred the pure pilates DVD in this set over the cardio DVD. I actually feel like my heart rate went up more using the pure pilates DVD than the cardio rebounder DVD. My only complaint about the pure pilates DVD is that it would be nice if Marjolin (sp?) would tell folks when to change positions when you are turned to the other side and away from the television. You just have to try to remember to count and make the change yourself.
I found the cardio DVD to be somewhat lacking. I did learn a few new moves that I could use to keep it from being as boring. I learned the new foot and leg positions after one viewing and now just do the rebounding to my television or radio on my own. Also, the cardio DVD just abruptly ends. There is no cool down or anything.
Awesome New Level 2 DVD's
I have the original level 1 and 2 DVD's and have been waiting for something new. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. I like these better than the originals. Thanks, Marjolein!
Great Job Marjolein
I have level 1, 2, and 3 of original pilates DVDs and DVD enclosed with machine with the rebounder. Level 2 Pure Pilates is not as complicated as original Level 2 and provides a wider range of positions that is different from original Level 2. Also, the DVD has pauses showing body stance for most positions.
Simply Cardio is over the top, using different number of cords, few new positions, change up on original positions. Great workout, kicks up original DVD.
I'm ordering Level 3 today. Love my pilates.
Just received this set of 2 dvd's and couldn't wait to try them out! I did the pure pilates first followed by the cardio and it is great! I feel invigorated and energized. This set is a great alternative for the regular level 2 workout, especially if you (like me) feel you can still get more out of the level 2 workout before moving on to level 3.
