Not recommended - 2 year ownership
I am writing this review having owned this computer for 2 years. I just would like to advise anyone looking at HP that I do not have any confidence in this computer or this brand after this ownership. The hard drive had to be replaced after 1.5 years. After 2 years I am getting weird messages about the startup disc and the computer is just generally slow. The network connection has never worked well; it was problematic from the start, and even as of now it disconnects regularly, which means about every 5-10 minutes. I know that this is a problem with only this computer because as of now I am streaming the news on my son's (much cheaper) computer without any disruption. Then there is the screen; the screen will not wake up from "sleep" mode about 75% of the time, I am not exaggerating. After messing with it for about 5 minutes I have to do a hard shut down to get the screen to light up. Overall, I would certainly not recommend this computer or HP to anyone who relies on their computer for business or school. I am not a novice, I do not have expectations for a computer to last forever. I am not a hard core user; I am almost embarrassed at how "lite" a user i am - email, internet, and pictures. And not a lot of pictures. At this price I would expect it to get through a 4 year college degree. Maybe mine is a lemon, I don't know.
By the way, the keyboard does not light up, and I didn't think it would matter to me but it does; it is just another irritation.
