Poor Manufacturers Warranty
While Garmin may be considered a good product, I beg to differ!!!!!!! My Garmin Nuvi2455LM GPS ((E167733) purchased 11/15/11 is still under warranty but because the screen is cracked Garmin refuses to replace the unit. I have not been dropping the unit it is always affixed to the car window. I brought this unit because you can take it with you during travel, it's small and compact. Mark of customer service simply said too bad that's the rules at Garmin. Almost 200.00 I think that's A ridiculous policy especially when the screen is cracked on the inside of the unit. Won't be buying or recommending any more Garmin products. If you do own one don't keep it in the car window, heat seems to be damaging to the unit. I would have rated it "0" but that rating was not available. Buyers Be Aware!!!!!!!!!!!!

Average performance
The bells and whistles are great.I would give them a 10.The trip routing is very hit and miss.I have used this about 12 /15 times .Twice it took me to a spot that was supposed to be a business but was an empty lot.Twice it has directed me to keep going in a complete circle over and over.It is much slower than a TOM TOM XL and not as accurate.The lifetime maps does not load .This is not the computers fault, I have tried 3.I don't like how when you come to a turn and it says 40ft until turn you are acutally already on that road.TomTom counts down until the turn .This Garmin lets you already turn before it goes to zero.The last spot feature is great for parking at sporting events to find your way to your car.The traffic feature works sometimes and sometimes not.

Not worth the money
I purchase this item for Christmas. Didn't have a chance to use it until recently. It takes too long to find locations. If you miss a turn it will take forever to recalculate. I tried to do a Map update and my Garmin system doesn't have enough memory to do an update. I have to update maps to my computer. A lot of good that's going to do. Too late to send this it back

On the fence
My husband is a pilot, and he loves Garmin since that's what most airplanes use. He got this for me,and it has some good features and some bad ones:
Good: sound, image and no glare screen
Bad: 1)once in navigation, you can't go back to the general map to get a sence of where you're at if you're unfamiliar with the area;
2) doesn't offer choices for routes without tolls
3) battery life is 1 1/2 hours, so if you want to use it in the pedestrian mode, it's not good for exploring a new city, or if you are like me and don't like to have the cable hanging around in the car, you are out of luck.
4) updating the maps takes 8 hours, and sometimes after all that time the download fails anyways. Who has that kind of time? Definetly NOT a user friendly feature.
5)when looking up places you don't know the address for, like" the nearest Home Depot", it takes a VERY long time to come up with options, and some times it has offered me directions to places 500 miles away!
Of course is still better than not having anything at all...

Great GPS
I was in the market for a new GPS unit, and trying to get away from the other big, name brand manufacturer out there. I decided I wanted to go with Garmin. After doing some research on the new Garmin models, I went with this unit from QVC, due to the price it was being offered at. The lifetime maps and traffic make it a no brainer. I had zero problems getting my computer to recognize it, and my maps update was seamless. Also, the Garmin style mount is much more secure then the other guys mounting system. Overall, would recommend this unit if your on the fence about a new GPS.

UGH
Tried to download the Garmin on my computer and after 7 hours I still have nothing. Would never buy a Gamin agian. Its too bad the return date is passed as my husband just took it out of the box today. I guess I am out alot of money. DONT BUY!!!

Certainly beats anything like this online
Right out of the box, I plugged it into my computer & loaded all the current updates & it works exactly as advertised.
My family loves being able to see the exit before getting to it. So far have only used it to go to locations I go to all the time, & it's accurate for the locations and directions.
For comical relief, it can become great company when arguing directions.

Was good when it was working
I usually love Garmin products, but a week after receiving this. The model stopped turning on. I sent it back and received another one and a month after receiving the second one, it froze in the middle of a trip I was on. I turned it off and tried turning it back on and it wouldn't come on. Luckily I left my old Garmin GPS in my car and was able to use it to get to my destination, but I'm not sure what would have happened if I didn't have the backup GPS. I gave this 2 stars only becuase it was great when it was working, but this model obviously has some defects.

Not all bad
Some features were different from the one I had before, so I got use to them. Like the "recalculating" feature. This unit does not let you know when recalculating, so you don't know you're on the right path.
I got it because I liked the junction view, even though I never got to use it. Needless to say overall I guess it was a good product, but upon further research I found that I preferred one that use voice commands instead. Returned this one today and will be purchasing the Nuvi 2495LMT.

Purchased one for us and one for our son. Yes, you must be able to follow directions to operate this device. Worth the effort.

Love Garmin, just not this one
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and today (the last day to return it) I tried to get the maps to load and my computer would not recognize it. I used a different computer and it still could not find it. I used a cord from a different Garmin (that we love) and still nothing. The unit would not even turn on or charge up. Thank goodness for QVC's liberal Christmas return policy. I wonder if we just got a lemon as I've purchased Garmin's in the past as gifts for my children and myself and everyone loves it and can't live without it. Our current Garmin doesn't have lifetime maps and that's why I bought this one. Maybe I'll just update our current Garmin and pay the fee.

Other garmin model was great..this model was a dud
I was so happy with my garmin I purchased a couple of years ago! I am brand loyal, so I bought this tsv and gave it as a christmas gift to hubby. ( Daughter took other model when she left home) Stopped turning on after 1 week. Made sure it was charged, checked the troubleshooting tips, but to no avail. Sent back to QVC for a refund. Will probably purchase a different garmin model with better reviews through QVC.
