A92297 - Linea by Louis Dell'Olio Boucle Skirt with Satin Trim
The MOST Beautiful Skirt
This is the most beautiful skirt I've bought in a very long time; I bought in both colors. The fabric is gorgeous, the little inset godet pleats at the hem, the vertical satin piping lines ... NONE of which show up in the photos ... The black is classic of course, and the deep spruce green is just lovely. I was lucky enough to get on the Limited Quantity price; what a bargain! Try wearing with the new Linea by Louis Dell'Olio #A219896 Sweater with Tie & Button Detail ... pretty, feminine and fantastic, an immediate thumbs up from my husband.
I prefer looser fit, at 3X and only 5'2" tall, the skirt hits just below the knee, still allowing the little pleats to move nicely, with a generous amount of ease at the waist and hips. A taller person would find this to hit at or above the knee. There is some give in the fabric which is a thicker boucle, thick enough to hide any bumps, lumps or tucked in garment edges, but not so thick as to add pounds or bulk, and a bit of hidden elastic in the waist as well; it's not stretched for me at all. Do NOT be afraid of this skirt in plus sizes; you will love it!
Sophistication with Some Attitude!
I would have missed out on this beautiful skirt had it not been for a late-nite presentation of the full suited look! Love the georgette godets - gives fun, flirty movement to one;s walk - the mix of satin with the wool boucle is just stunning. I purchased the Black & the Spruce and have gone to the extra expensive of alterations since Size "L" was my option. Hope Louis adds more Spruce Green cooridinates soon - I have the whisper knit matching shell - would love to have the tank & turtleneck as well. Perhaps I'll campaign my wishes on Facebook - are ya listening Louis? These suits rival ones I paid (4) times the price - I LOVE Linea!
I am so pleased with the quality, the workmanship of this skirt, the fit is custom fit in my eyes and I have a small waist, I was lucky to get this one.
Designer All The Way!
The detailing in this skirt is superlative, and the contrasting textures of the fabrics are gorgeous. I purchased the Spruce Green skirt with the jacket first, then the Black jacket and waited months for a Black skirt to appear in my size. I jumped on the Black skirt when it appeared. I am 5'-4", wear a small, and the skirt is a perfect fit on my particular body type. The length is below the knee on me and although I would prefer it if it were shorter, for a one-length-fits-all, it's a definite keeper.
A great skirt, a terrible picture
I had to look twice to make sure this was the skirt I own which, I purchased a while ago. What a terrible picture! You can't see the beautiful satin strips applied to each seam and the georgette godets at the bottom are not even shown. This looks like a plain pencil skirt but, it is not. The bottom is actually quite flippy when you walk and very feminine. What a shame. If I hadn't seen it when he presented it I would have passed this right by. It goes with everything Louis has done in Spruce Green and more.
Perfect compliment to jacket or coordinating top
This is a great skirt. I had the jacket from last year that I was wearing with slacks and a black riding skirt. This is much better and I am happy that my size came back in stock. It is well made, great quality and you will be sad if you miss this.
Love Spruce Green!!
Received this skirt last week in the Large size and I am normally a Medium in Louis' skirts. I took it to my seamstress and all she did was elasticize the 2nd panel waist band from the 1st gathered waist band panel and then tightened the hook and eye catch a little closer so that the skirt wouldn't 'gap' in the back. The skirt is well made and the goring on the bottom adds a special flair to what would be essentially a pencil skirt with satin trim. I am so sorry that QVC is discontinuing this fabric for womens clothing made by Louis. If you normally wear a Medium in Louis' skirts, the Large can be altered by the method I mentioned without ruining the satin trim pleating panels.
Perfect for Me
I have the complete suiting, fits like it was tailor fitted just for me. So many compliments when I wear this. For me, wish all skirts fit me this stylish and well. Thank-you, Mr Louis Dell' Olio
LOVE THIS GORGEOUS SKIRT & ULTRA FEMININE HEMLINE
"WHAT AN ELEGANT SKIRT WITH THE FUN FLIRTY, GODATS SURROUNDING THE HEM.......I PAIRED IT WITH THE MATCHING ELEGANT JACKET....VERY CLASSY SUITING! I FIRST WORE IT TO A FUNDRAISING AWARDS DINNER AND GOT SEVERAL COMPLIMENTS. SINCE I HAVE RECEIVED MORE COMPLIMENTS EVERY TIME I HAVE WORN IT. THE SATIN TRIM ADDS A RICH DETAIL THROUGHOUT THE DESIGN.....
ANOTHER ELEGANT OUTFIT AGAIN, THAT MAKES A STUNNING ENTRANCE IN SYLE .....AND GETS NOTICED.
I AM 5'6" AND THE SKIRT JUST HITS THE LOWER PART OF MY KNEES......LOVELY! ....THE FIT, SATIN SEAMING DETAIL, AND GODATS AROUND THE HEMLINE ARE VERY FEMININE AND FLATTERING!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE COMPLETE SUIT. IT'S TIMELESS AND IN CLASS.
Fabulous! Perfect Length!
Finally, a skirt that doesn't fall below my knees! I have to disagree with the previous reviewers. An item's star ratings shouldn't suffer simply because of the way a beautifully constructed garment happens to fall simply because of customer height. These garments do not come in petite and tall sizes, so one length has to fit ladies short, average AND tall. So for a customer to expect every garment Louis designs to custom fit her particular height is not fair. I am FINALLY able to purchase from this amazing line and not have the hemline altered. I am a size M, 5' 4", and this skirt rocks! The attention to detail and updated styling, not to mention the incredible construction of this garment, makes it worth 4 times the price (at least!). Thank you Louis!
Beautiful but TOO SHORT!
Louis... I have the matching jacket.... LOVE! ... and wanted this skirt to go with it, but had to return.... it's just too short. Please make it longer and I will scoop it up in a heartbeat. Everything else fit beautifully except for the length.
Sorry, Louis: Skirt is a Disaster
I usually love all things Linea, and am one of the ringleaders of the "Linea Ladies" on the fashion forum. But I am so sorry to say that this skirt is a disaster!
Going by the measurements, the Large should have been ample with a bit of 'wiggle room." But the way the skirt is cut, it CUPS the behind in the most unflattering way. There is also a back zipper, which makes this problem even worse. A side zipper could have helped a bit.
The skirt is also too short given the flouncy georgette insert at the hem. Yes, I cut the shipping threads to release the gored flounces. But the hemline is still too short, and you cannot lengthen the hem because the boucle has a bit of a hemline but the georgette insert in the gores does NOT. So you cannot lengthen this skirt at all. I am only about 5' 6", and this skirt hit me above the knee. That is totally wrong for a skirt with a godet and hemline flounce: it should be just below the knee, for a heavier boucle fabrication like this skirt is.
Please, Louis, give us a pencil skirt in your classic knit in a spruce green so we can salvage the lovely jacket. This skirt is terrible; so sorry, but I have to tell the truth.
