philosophy hope in a jar hydrating fluid makeup, spf 20
I received the Hope in a Jar foundation in Shade #10. I couldn't decide on the Shade #9 or #10, but my gut instinct told me to go with the #10. The shade match is perfect. I am 39 years old with normal/combination skin (oily T-zone, comfortable on my cheeks), African American, and I am very happy with this foundation. It's not greasy or oily and it stays on all day. I sweat alot, and this foundation does not slide off at all. It makes your skin look even and natural. I would not recommend this foundation if you have major skin issues such as acne, acne scarring, severe discoloration or redness. This foundation is for someone who has decent skin with little to no imperfections. If you have decent skin, give this a try. Oh, I would describe the finish as semi-matte, slightly luminous, but not sparkly, sheer to medium coverage. I would recommend this for all skin types except for very oily or very dry. Normal/combination skin would benefit from this foundation. Hope this helps.
I've got some redness and sun damage and this foundation covers both nicely. It goes on so smoothly and doesn't settle into the fine lines around my eyes. The finish is great although I do use powder in the T zone where I'm a little oily. I will continue to buy this and definitely recommend it!
I've tried every foundation on QVC and this is the best. Goes on beautifully, is not drying and gives good coverage. My search is over!
I like this makeup. I've had issues with other foundations making my dry skin stand out and this doesn't do that, at least! It is a build-able coverage make up, so it does take more than one application to achieve full-coverage. I do feel a bit oily after application and prefer a matte look, so I feel like a finishing powder would be beneficial (currently I'm in search of a good one!)
There's only one word that describes this foundation - Awesome!
excellent liquid makeup
I don't really use liquid makeup, but if I do, this is the one i use. perfect color match, not too oily as some hydrating makeups can be. not drying as some liquids can end up being. Perfect.
My search is over!
I have tried hundreds of foundations. Powders, minerals, bb & cc creams. I decided to try this after all the positive reviews. Could it really be as good as people say? Will it make me look older looking? Yes, it is that good. Goes on like a dream after my serums and moisturizers. Light as air, yet great coverage. Leaves a beautiful finish...matte, not shiny. Use sparingly...half a pump does your whole face. Love Philosophy.Very gentle...does not make my eyes burn. Try it, you'll like it.
I absolutely love this makeup! I have been using it a little over a month now. I am in my late 30's and this gives me perfect coverage and never settles into fine lines. Looks so very natural! Many other makeup items gave me breakouts but I have not had one since using this makeup. I won't use anything else, to me it's the best and I've tried them all. Just great coverage and goes on silky smooth.
Covers, Long Wear, Don't Feel On Skin...Wow
I have been using the mineral makeups for several years but now having problems with super dry skin due to chemo treatments I was searching for something moisturizing but not oily or thick. Truly did not think I would find anything. But this product is great. The mineral makeups were great on my oily skin but now my skin, hair, etc all dry. I already use some of philosophy's products on my face such as the cleanser, exfoliator, moisturizer and The Present. I would say this foundation was perfect for me because it seems to float over my dry skin and once it sets it stays put. It is buildable if you need to cover & it dries quickly but not too quick so you can get a smooth look. I wash and apply The Present first....key with it is to give yourself plenty of time to let it dry or set & not use too much. I cannot wear moisturizer during the day so I use it at night. Then after applying the Present I put a couple small pumps of foundation in the palm of my hand & dot it on my face then blend a section of my face at a time. I do not need any concealer. If I have an area that needs a little coverage I go back to that area and gently pat in more foundation on that area. The wow to me is I do not have to use powder even though it is moisturizing foundation. It goes on smooth but leaves a creamy smooth flawless look to my skin not oily or shiny looking .....not even late in the day.....it lasts all day on me. I think this is a great product & highly recommend it for those who have had oily skin in past but now dry skin.....maybe from chemo treatments....who want a smooth foundation but not oily or thick. By the way, I use the light 4 which blends seamlessly into my skin. My skin is fair. It is a small amount but I do not wear makeup all the time so I probably would think it will last me a month or so. In the future I hope Philosophy makes a larger pump bottle of this foundation for those of us that like it & using it routinely now. A larger bottle at a fair price would really be nice.
Best Foundation Ever
I am not a philosophy girl ...... but this foundation is the best I've used in my 62 years. I stopped using my Chanel and will not go back. Please continue to make this and please don't think you improve it because you can't.
Won't Use Anything Else
I bought this at a department makeup store. I have rosacea so the cheap stuff just did not give me the coverage and stay on my face. This stays on and makes me look flawless and gives me the confidence I've been searching for.
In my 50 years of buying makeup I have tried literally hundreds of foundations in all price ranges and I I can honestly say this is the BEST foundation I've tried yet! It goes on flawlessly. it looks so natural, and yet completely covers all imperfections and evens out my skin tone. I will never waste my money on another foundation again! I have finally found the perfect one!!
