George Simonton Gored Pull-on Skirt with Piping Detail
Sharp, Stylish .......but NOT Silver
Even the video didn't clearly show the "silver" color with black. I find it a dull gray. Therefore reducing the "matching" top options. Also found the 24.25" length in xs about .75" too long on my <5' short legged frame. But those are MY issues and are not deductions from my rating. I agree the material is weightier than most of George's skirts. But this keeps the skirt from being one bit clingy. The black piped gores disguise my tummy. Glad I made this purchase!
Beautiful skirt just arrived. Fits perfectly---my regular size, L. Swishy and swingy.
I purchased this is the black/silver. It is a nice skirt, but I am waiting for cooler weather to wear it since it is a thicker material. I did wear it one time since we have had cooler weather this summer. It washed well, and I hung it to dry, as I do all of my clothes. It is comfortable, and easy to pull off and on. The piping between each gore is a nice touch.
way too big
I was astonished by the amount of material this skirt had.
It was not at all flattering-sent it back.
Lovely flattering skirt
The fabric is a soft brushed knit, so I'm not sure how durable it will be, but I like the grey and black print. I love the black piping that separates each gore--beautifully stitched and adds a nice expensive-looking touch. Just below the knee (5'4"), looks great with black boots. I like the soft, stretchy waistband---like pulling on yoga pants!
Good fall skirt
This skirt fits well, is flattering and the material is very nice. I ordered it in the black/brown combination but was so disappointed that from a couple of feet away it looks black. The brown does not show and I ordered it to go with brown boots. I already have a black skirt very similar to this, so I sent it back. But if you want a skirt that looks more black, or you order the other color you will probably like it a lot. It has a nice drape and is very comfortable. Wish it had worked for me.
My favorite year round skirt
The material is wonderful…looks like a tweed in fact. The dark waist makes me look thinner and I can actually tuck my GS gray top in…something I rarely do. The flare is just enough and mostly at the bottom. And, the piping makes it look couture. I love this skirt.
If you're looking for comfort and style this skirt is for you. The waistband doesn't strangle as some elastic waists do and it's solid color is a nice contrast to the skirt. The length of the skirt is perfect for shorter women and it hits just below the knee. It's perfect to wear with flat boots and not feel overwhelmed by length or material which happens with long skirts. The fabric is soft to the touch and the goring allows for movement. The color combination of the skirt invites a variety of shirt and/or sweater colors (white, black, grey, or a pop color if you're daring) that can be worn with it. I've received compliments on how pretty the skirt is. Thanks George.
Love this skirt
I absolutely love this skirt. I bought both colors and I live in them. They are very flattering and comfortable. I think the fabric is very soft. George, this is a great skirt and thank you for it.
Love this skirt
Very subtle. I'm somewhat conservative in my dress but this skirt does have a wow factor. I got the gray. I wear it with a black turtleneck and thin belt. Very very nice look.
Wish the fabric was as vivid as the picture
I like the style and fit of this skirt, but found the fabric to be a little dingy looking. The word "silver" usually infers a bright silver color. Not this one. It looks like flannel. Usually I give George's fashions five stars, but this one missed the mark for me,
Style is flattering, but I don't care for fabric
As usual, George Simonton's styling is flattering, but I was disappointed in both the color (more dingy gray/black than the pleasing silver/black in the photo) and the fabric. The fabric was heavy and is a knit blend that just doesn't work for a skirt, IMO. I'm glad it worked for others, but I'm returning as I don't think I'll wear this one.
