If you want a pair of Birkenstock to be wearable right out of the box then the soft bed is a good bet. My only negative comment, and why I only gave 4 stars, is that the support is not as good as the regular Birkenstock foot bed. These are very soft! But the toe grip and arch support are a bit lower that's all.

Birki's Haven't Let Me Down Yet.
These are wonderful. The strap is larger than the Tahiti sandal but smaller than the original Birkenstock Sandal, Arizona. I have those too! I have so many pairs of birki's and Birkenstock clogs and sandals.
These birki's with the soft footbed do not
Need breaking in. They are great! They run true to size and are fun.
Two thumbs up for birki's..... Again!

Problem with cork bed
I have 3 pair and love Birki's but the cork bed on the inside of each big toe has cracked. I have only worn them for about a month and they are already split. Not cool, straps are quite large, makes a big foot look even bigger. On the plus side: very comfortable, no break in required and a very cool color. Sad to see them go back.

I got these in black
and they are superiorily comfortable! However, I wish I gotten another one in the smaller straps, as these are rather large.
