About Lippmann

A few years ago, famed makeup artist Bobbi Brown sat in Deborah Lippmann's manicure chair at Frédéric Fekkai Salon. Although Brown opted for a basic manicure and chose a simple neutral shade, the session was an experience that neither would soon forget.

Impressed with Lippmann's clean and thorough style, Brown told Allure magazine about her and news of her talent quickly spread throughout the industry. Soon her fancy finger work was gracing the covers of top publications. In addition to her extensive print experience, Lippmann is responsible for dazzling the digits of high-profile personalities.

"I feel the manicure is the most intimate of beauty services," Lippmann explains. "The manicurist and the client are face to face the entire time, holding hands." Because of this up close and personal profession, it's not unusual for Lippmann to form intimate bonds with her clients.

Lippmann enjoys performing vocally. She has recorded a song on Broadway lyricist/director Martin Charnin's album Incurably Romantic; and she was a vocalist/producer/arranger on Martha Stewart's Home for the Holidays Christmas special on CBS. Also, she performed on Donny Osmond's album Christmas at Home; and she has sung the national anthem at Madison Square Garden for New York Knicks games.

But what is this special touch that makes Lippmann so sought after by celebrities? "I start out with a serious hand massage to help my clients relax," she says. "I prefer to take my time to give a slow, luxurious manicure." Lippmann's basic manicures generally take half an hour and last for about a week. "The most important thing," Lippmann adds, "is that I want my clients to feel great about themselves after I've finished."

Through her many years experience in the manicure business, Lippmann is convinced that maintenance is the key to fabulous-looking nails and hands. Shares Lippmann, "The hands are the most used part of the body and yet the least cared for." When you're in Lippmann's hands, you get treated like a star!

The Lippmann Collection is made up of over 40 shades, nail treatments, and tools developed by Lippmann. Lippmann's many years of experience and expertise are always in demand by top fashion magazines, photographers, models, and celebrities. This has given her a unique insight into the desires and demands of today's women.

The line begins with sophisticated, classic colors in lovely bottles that beautifully accent your vanity alongside your collectible perfumes. Glorious colors named after jazz song classics, such as In the mood, Lady is a tramp, Stardust misty, and Prelude to a kiss, all create unparalleled elegance and style. Here are some top tips from Deborah to help you achieve a professional-looking manicure at home.

  • Make sure the nail plate is completely clean and dry before applying base coat.
  • Swipe the tip of the brush across the tip of the nail with each coat of lacquer.
  • Let each coat dry several minutes before applying the next coat for longer wear.
  • Apply one coat of On a clear day topcoat every two to three days to keep lacquer looking fresh and glossy.
  • Keep your nail lacquer in the refrigerator. It will last longer in the bottle.
  • Always put the cap on tightly to stop air from getting into the bottle. This prevents the lacquer from drying out.
