It takes 10 days for more than 400 people to set up the Bryant Park tents. During
Fashion Week, an 80-person house crew, as well as 75 security personnel, oversee
the event. All in all, over 500 volunteers will donate 4,000 hours of their time.
There will be around 100,000 attendees, including 3,500 from the press. More
than 2,500 different looks will be shown.
The average runway show lasts 17 minutes, although waiting time can be much longer.
Last fall, spectators waited two hours for the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer show.
Up-and-coming stylists usually charge designers around $6,000/day. Well-known
stylists: $20,000/day.
Prior to Fashion Week, MAC Cosmetics receives orders for at least 20,000
eyeshadows. During the event, the MAC PRO team goes through approximately 340
tubes of lipstick.
Within the eight-acre Bryant Park, the venues can range up to 12,000 square feet in
size.
During Fashion Week, there will be 78 designer runway shows.
Approximately 72,000 bottles of Evian, 4,000 bottles of Peroni, and 1,500 bottles of
Imperia Vodka will be consumed on site.
There will be 5,000 newly designed OfficeMax notebooks for front-row note-taking.
