QVC GETS A HOME MAKEOVER
RENOVATIONS CONDUCTED DURING THE NETWORK’S LIVE BROADCAST
JACK MORTON WORLDWIDE CHARGED WITH DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
FOR THE HOME RENOVATION PROJECT
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (October 20, 2008) – Leading multimedia retailer QVC, Inc. recently gave its “QVC Home” a facelift, and the transformation was unveiled live this past Saturday, October 18. Partnering with Jack Morton Worldwide on the design and construction, QVC executed the project in just 15 days (October 3-17), during the network’s live broadcast.
The QVC Home has not changed significantly since the company moved into its Studio Park headquarters 12 years ago. The newly redesigned space provides QVC with greater flexibility in demonstrating product to its customers through an open floor plan. Program hosts and on-air vendors can now move with ease into other set areas to demonstrate their product(s). Most of the sets also include LCD monitors, providing vendors with additional product demonstration opportunities.
“Our customers are our priority, and this redesign was orchestrated with them top of mind,” said Angie Simmons, executive vice president of multichannel platforms for QVC. “We were looking for opportunities to better demonstrate our product and give our customers a clearer sense of how they might be used in their own homes. Working together with Jack Morton Worldwide, we feel that we successfully addressed those challenges.”
“We were thrilled to take on this opportunity with QVC,” said Jim Fenhagen, senior vice president of design for Jack Morton Worldwide. “While we have worked with a number of television studios with their redesigns, we have never taken on a project in such little time, and during a live broadcast. It was a wonderful challenge, and we enjoyed working with the QVC team.”
The redesign entailed a makeover of the following sets: living room, kitchen, bathroom, sunroom and garage. The most notable improvements include: the living room staircase was removed; a multi-purpose/crafting room is now situated in the space formerly occupied by the QVC garage; the bathroom now conveys the look and feel of a spa, with his and her sinks and an oversized shower; and the kitchen contains an open floor plan to the sunroom.
