QVCHD GOES NATIVE
QVC IS THE FIRST AND ONLY MULTIMEDIA RETAILER
TO OFFER A NATIVE HD SERVICE

West Chester, Pa. (May 26, 2009) – A year after launching QVCHD, a high-definition (HD) simulcast of the network’s domestic broadcast, QVC announced that, as of May 5, 2009, QVCHD is now 100 percent native HD, becoming the first and only multimedia retailer to offer a native HD service.

“Our introduction into HD last year showed us how in demand our HD programming was by our customers,” said Angie Simmons, QVC’s executive vice president of multichannel platforms. “We’re thrilled to continue to deliver our customers an enhanced shopping experience, and with our native HD service, we’re giving them the best, most stunning picture quality available.”

QVCHD was previously made available through an upconverted HD service.

“Our intention was always to go native. Upconversion was just the interim step,” said Al Ulozas, QVC’s senior vice president of affiliate sales and marketing. “Our affiliates told us they ultimately wanted us to offer a native HD service so that, together, we could provide our customers with the best programming possible.”

With QVCHD, QVC’s products – and the stories behind them – come alive with crisper, more colorful and detailed programming. QVCHD is televised live, 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, featuring the best in beauty, home, fashion, jewelry and electronics.

The request for carriage of QVCHD has been well-received and is currently available in a number of systems, including many serviced by Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Verizon and AT&T – among others.
