QVC CELEBRATES THE 40th ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY
Multimedia Retailer to Offer Green Tips from Environmental Lifestyle Expert Danny Seo
and Debut Portico Natural Bed and Bath

West Chester, Pa. (April 13, 2010) – QVC, one of the world’s leading multimedia retailers, will commemorate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22 with 24 hours of unique ideas to help its customers live a little greener. Throughout the day, QVC will feature innovative products and resourceful advice to help its customers save energy and money. Additionally, environmental lifestyle expert Danny Seo is scheduled to make his QVC debut. The multimedia retailer is also scheduled to premiere the Portico Natural Bed and Bath home collection.

“There’s no better time to celebrate Mother Earth and evaluate the environmental footprint each of us is leaving on the planet,” said Doug Howe, QVC’s executive vice president of strategic multichannel planning and merchandising. “QVC’s Earth Day programming will show our customers just how easy it is to adopt simple changes that will make a big impact in the long-term. We hope our customers embrace some of the solutions and ideas we are planning to offer in the hopes that it will encourage a more sustainable way of living.”

Danny Seo, green expert for CBS’s “The Early Show” and author of the nationally syndicated column   “Do Just One Thing,” is scheduled to make his QVC debut, sharing tips and advice on how to live    “simply green,” including:

  • Bringing reusable bags to the store is a very green choice, but it’s easy to forget these solutions at home. Invest in compact bags that can fit into your pocket, like Baggu Set of Six Reusable Shopper Bags by Danny Seo (QVC Item #F08744) – the bags are extremely lightweight, but strong enough to hold up to 50 pounds of groceries;
  • Repurpose a stainless steel coffee thermos and use it to keep other things warm instead, such as soup or macaroni and cheese; and
  • Leave shoes at the front door to avoid dragging in dirt, chemicals and other grimy substances into the home. Place shoes on top of a stack of newspapers and stuff the insides of the shoes with newspaper as well. The newsprint will absorb dirt, moisture and odor.

QVC is also scheduled to premiere Portico Natural Bed and Bath, an assortment of 100 percent organic linens, towels and bedroom accents, which will be presented by Summer Rayne Oakes, Portico brand ambassador, model and activist. The multimedia retailer is also scheduled to offer its customers Earth Smart Jewelry, made out of recycled sterling silver.

QVC’s Earth Day programming lineup will feature a variety of energy-saving and/or green items. Products will be available through QVC at 800.345.1515 or QVC.com, while supplies last.
