QVC NAMES MEG ARMSTRONG GENERAL MANAGER OF E-COMMERCE
WEST CHESTER, Pa. (January 25, 2010) – QVC announced today that Meg Armstrong has joined the company as general manager of e-commerce. In this newly created role, Armstrong is responsible for overseeing QVC’s online business, including the leadership and execution of its business plans, policies, practices and vendor relationships.
Bringing more than 20 years of marketing experience to QVC, Armstrong most recently served as vice president of direct to consumer platform marketing for Brown Shoe Company/Shoes.com, where she was responsible for the online marketing direction, management and growth of various multichannel, pure play and specialty retail Web sites.
“Meg will play an instrumental role in growing our online business through existing and new channels, and will lead us to new service levels in providing our customers with a seamless, exceptional shopping experience,” said Angie Simmons, QVC’s executive vice president of multichannel platforms, to whom Armstrong reports. “We’re delighted to welcome her to QVC.”
Prior to Brown Shoe Company/Shoes.com, Armstrong served as vice president of direct marketing for GMAC Insurance, where she was responsible for all aspects of the company’s direct marketing strategies.
Armstrong’s previous work experience also includes marketing roles with David’s Bridal, where she doubled traffic to its Web site and launched the company’s first Spanish-language site, and Lowe’s Companies, Inc., where she managed the development and launch of its first e-commerce platform.
Armstrong earned her master’s degree in management (strategy and marketing) from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.
