iRobot Roomba 890 Wi-Fi Connected Robotic Vacuum is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful addition We call her Rosie, and we wish we would have bought her sooner. We have 3 indoor Labradors who as you know, shed continuously. Rosie cannot get under my sofas, but, we just vacuum under them each week. The first few days Rosie had trouble keeping up with the hair, but now that she has been running everyday since August, the floors are dust bunny free and she only needs to be emptied after her run. Rosie works everyday for about 60 minutes in our 1700 sq ft home. We only have tile, and a area rug in our living room and she works perfectly over these. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where have you been all my life? Having had substantial back surgery, vacuuming is a now a no-no. Aaargh! For someone who keeps an immaculate home, not being able to sweep carpeting, wood and tile floors is absolutely devastating. I saw the Roomba in action at my brother and sister-in-law's home a few weeks ago. It had been cleaning while the 17 of us who were staying at their home were out to lunch. They have had their Roomba for 6 years and are beyond pleased with it. As a result, I ordered one, right then and there. It is not noisy and cleans much better than my top-of-the-line Oreck. It is easy to clean the debris bin and filter; I use a can of compressed air, so it's done in 5 seconds. Thanks goodness I have nieces and nephews, as my Oreck will be re-purposed to one of them. I could go on and on and on about this "miracle cleaner" but will refrain from doing so. Instead, I recommend you purchase one yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs improvements Our home has two full-time indoor dogs (Lab), they shed continuously and I thought having this Roomba would help a bit. Our home is a one story with three bedrooms, the vacuum does random patterns throughout the house, once it hits an object it turns around and continues elsewhere. There is no consistent cleaning pattern that we have noticed. For the price I would say stick to the manual vacuums. This model states it is for homes with pets but the bin is too small and the hair gets stuck through the initial entrance of the bin where the full sensor is. The full light comes one within a few minutes of it working, when I check it the hair just seems to be stuck. Ive had to sweep or vacuum to make sure the house is clean. The wifi is also difficult to keep connected even though I followed all instructions. I attempted to use the app and set up a schedule but since the Roomba would not stay connected to Wifi it would not start when scheduled.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great improvements - but may still need manual vacuum The unit arrived well packaged and was easy to open. I downloaded the iRobot App for my iPhone, removed the stability tags from the vacuum, plugged in the base station and placed near the wall in my living room. I connected the vacuum to my home WiFi and also enabled my Amazon Echo with the iRobot skill. I let Victoria (you can name your Roomba in the app) charge for a couple hours, then hit the clean button and watched my pet's reactions to this new household resident. Everybody got used to it. Overall, I'm quite impressed on how much dirt and pet hair this unit picks up. See the pictures of the overflowing dirt bins. I literally emptied 5-6 of these bins the first time it tried to clean the floor! What I'm not impressed with is just how random the unit cleans the room. It literally bounces off objects and may make one or two "cleaning lines" in a room before proceeding to another room if you have a fairly open floor plan like me. Note that the 890 does not say supports multi-room cleaning - only room-by-room navigation, whereas the 960 and 980 do support entire floor cleaning. The literature says the Roomba knows where it's been and will eventually clean the whole room (and it did) - but that could take 60-minutes from my experience. If you have guests coming over or want to clean the floor quick - you'll be reaching for your old vacuum. I have setup the Roomba to vacuum the main floor of my house everyday starting at 4:00 am. It is supposed to drive around and clean up the floor and go back to its base station for recharging if needed. I can attest that my floors are cleaner, but it has never finished the floor without some form of manual intervention. Either the dirt bin gets full, it gets stuck on something or under something, or can't find the base station and runs out of battery charge. Again - my floors are cleaner, it's fun to watch, it works with Amazon Echo and I'm generally vacuuming less often than before!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad filter design I have an 870 but the filter is the same for all 800 & 900 series Roombas. Vac worked great with original filters that had a fine mesh screen on the bottom side. The filter was redesigned to eliminate the mesh so now dust adheres to it and clogs the machine, even with tapping out after each use. I removed and replaced all the recommended parts and found that dust and debris collected around the bin. This change obviously saves iRobot $ but has severely compromised the effectiveness of the product. Floors are still gritty after vacuuming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't live without Rosie We named her after the Robot on the Jetsons. My husband was skeptical about spending the money when our Kenmore vacuum cleaner workhorse was still going strong, but now he can't imagine life without Rosie, either. We recently tore out all our carpeting and installed solid wood and Marmoleum. Rosie is gentle on these surfaces while still being thorough. And much quieter than the Kenmore.
