Victoria Principal has emerged as a major force in the entertainment field. The recipient of two Golden Globe nominations for "Best Actress in a Dramatic Series" and "Most Promising Newcomer," she is one of the world's most popular actresses. She is also well-known for her work as a producer, and as the author of two best-selling books. Victoria's recent TV appearances include "Providence," "The Practice," "Titans," and the 1999 Tracey Ullman HBO special. In 1997, she starred in the CBS-TV movie "Love in Another Town," based on Barbara Taylor Bradford's best seller. Victoria's recent theatrical work includes the 1998 release of "Michael Kael" for Canal Plus. In 1998, she also starred in "Time Flies, An Evening of Comic One-Acts" by obie-award winning author David Ives for the LA Theatre Works' famed Radio Theatre Series, and she starred in "Mere Mortals" by David Ives with Chicago's Second City. Victoria was born on January 3rd in Fukuoka, Japan, to an Air Force family that moved frequently during her childhood years. While living in England as a child, Victoria was the second American ever to be accepted to the prestigious Royal Academy of Ballet, where she studied for two years. After working as a model in New York, Victoria returned to London, where she studied privately with Jean Scott of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Returning to the U.S. to pursue her dream of acting in films in 1971, Victoria recalls, "I arrived in California with no job, no car, and no money... but, like millions of other girls, a dream." Within six months, Victoria landed a major role as Paul Newman's mistress in "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean," directed by John Huston. Her impressive performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for "Most Promising Newcomer." Subsequent motion pictures included "The Naked Ape," "Earthquake," "I Will...I Will...For Now," and "Vigilante Force." In 1976, Victoria moved into episodic television and movies. While starring for nine years as Pamela Barnes Ewing in the CBS-TV hit series "Dallas," Victoria authored three books, including the #1 best-selling book, The Body Principal (Simon and Schuster), The Beauty Principal (Simon and Schuster), and another best seller, The Diet Principal (Simon and Schuster). In 1987, Victoria starred in "Mistress," a 2-hour dramatic CBS-TV movie. In 1989, Victoria starred in "Naked Lie," which marked her debut as a producer and was the top rated movie for the 1989 February sweeps period, garnering a 21.2 rating and 33 share. Victoria starred and produced "Blind Witness" (1989, ABC-TV); "Sparks: The Price of Passion" (1990, CBS-TV); and "Don't Touch My Daughter" (1991). In 1991, she starred and co-produced "Inner Sanctum" (ABC-TV), and her production company co-produced "Midnight's Child" for Lifetime. She starred in "The Burden of Proof" (1991, ABC-TV); "River of Rage" (1993, CBS-TV); "Beyond Obsession" (1994, ABC-TV); "Dancing in the Dark" (1995, Lifetime); and "The Abduction" for Lifetime. Victoria resides in Beverly Hills, California, with her husband, Dr. Harry Glassman. |
