butter LONDON Half Moon Manicure Kit
I wanted to love it!
I love Butter's polish! I have used them for a while now, I've always wanted to try the base and top coat and this was a great deal. Colors are fab, the base is great and pretty worn alone but the top is horrible!!! I am a licensed nail tech and have been doing natural nails for awhile, I have used better safe-for-you top coats then this one. Used three times and within 12 hours, its chipping. You can find cheaper and better out there. Sorry Butter, I wanted to love it. But you still make great nail colors!!!
My daughter and I have been looking at this nail polish at our local beauty store, and not realizing that it was free from 3 bad ingredients, we didn't try it because of the price. My daughter has suffered from years of rashes and hives, has been tested, and couldn't find the cause. I decided to buy this kit for her, base coat, top coat, and color, as well as nail polish remover, for Christmas. She tried it first, and we were shocked at how, not only quickly it dried, but how the nail polish didn't chip! She is a teacher and her nails always started chipping, as well as the tips showing white after two-three days. One week after she polished with this, it looked freshly manicured. It is now going on almost two weeks, and she still hasn't had to repolish. She is amazed. Plus, so far, no rash or hives on her hands. I recently read a reviewer comment on how she was allergic to formaldyhide, and wondered if this what was causing my daughter's rash/hives. So, I decided to buy this for myself as well, both top and base coat and one color. However, I took mine to the salon for them to use. It dried much faster than the previous polish I used for years. I only dried them using their little portable fan. I do not use the built in nail driers. I have healthy nails, have never used gels or wraps, etc. I had my nails done six days ago as I write this review, and my manicure looks like it has just been done. Plus I love the high gloss. I saw some other reviews about how it chip immediately, and I have to believe that they did something wrong. Proof is both myself and my daughter. I do a lot of housework and cooking too. I also am happy that these are 3 free of ingredients. Over the past 7-8 years, I have switched to mostly organic foods. I do not eat any packaged foods, or processed foods. I use mostly organic creams and lotions and shampoo. I knew that I needed to stop using nail polishes, as I have had several skin cancer spots removed.
So this is the answer for me. So far, we have purchased five colors. They are all nice. I know QVC doesn't carry all the colors, but they are ALL nice. I think QVC's pricing is VERY good. I paid $25 just for the top and base coat. I am taking the time to write this review because I want to help spread the word about this brand. Mostly important is that they are free from three bad ingredients, the bonus is how long lasting they are, as well as being glossy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I got this for Christmas, and it is the only thing I've worn since it arrived. The Yummy Mummy color is a great neutral. My nails were in bad shape after having them done In a salon for years. A friend told me about the non toxic products and I wanted to give it a try. I love it. If you're in a hurry just use the base coat then the top and you have a very clean natural look but your nails are also protected. A manicure will last a full week if not longer. The set prices are very good too. I highly recommend this product and look forward to trying other colors. I'll be back for more Butter London products.
If I Didn't Already Own These I'd Buy Them Again!
I love every single one of these products. The butterLONDON line is new to me this year and I've been snatching them up like candy! They wear extremely well and the base and top coats are fantastic with other polishes as well. Yummy Mummy is a beautiful neutral color with just enough glimmer to not make your hands look "dead" like some creme nudes can do - or mannequin hands as I like to call them! Union Black Jack is a about as beautiful and shiny as a black can be. I'd recommend any color from the butterLONDON collection - and try their polish removers - they work amazingly well and smell wonderful - acetone free too!!
I LOVE BUTTER!
I love every product in this set. The foundation dries matte and smooths out the nail surface. I wasn't sure about Union Jack (black) but its really cool. And Yummy Mummy is that perfect Taupe everybody is wearing! The top coat dries in a flash and is super shiny! I LOVE this set!!!!
Great Value for an Exceptional brand
I have and use all four of these products regularly, but I didn't get them at such an amazing price. Normally, the base and top coats are $18 each and the colours are $14 each so this is a great value. ButterLondon base coat is one of the very best on the market. It's called "foundation" and it performs like a primer/foundation for nails. It smooths out ridges, masks any discoloration you may have on your nails and dries quickly to a silky almost matte finish which is a perfect neutral canvas for applying colour. The nail polishes have a dreamy formula and glide smoothly over the base coat which really helps them adhere well and prevent patchy or uneven spots.
Yummy Mummy is basically the world's most perfect neutral. It is universally flattering and appropriate everywhere from the office to the playground, to an evening out. Union Jack Black is a luscious deep creamy true black that is also easy to apply evenly. Sometimes dark colours are streaky and hard to work with but UJB is great. Black nail polish has left the realm of "goth" and has become a sophisticated "new neutral" that's sexy and edgy but different than traditional reds and crimsons. The half-moon mani is fun but each of these colors are wonderful on their own and also fun for a "funky French or reverse French" mani. To do this, just paint your base colour (YM) let it dry, then use regular tape or manicure guides and paint the tips a contrasting colour (UJB). This look has been popular on the runways this year and you can mix it up with different colours as you like. It's also fun to do an accent nail with the darker colour or use a bobby pin or dotting tool for a fun "dotticure" or to draw or stamp designs.
After you've painted your nails adding a coat of BL P.D. Quick top coat will rapidly dry your manicure to a shiny, durable finish. It's a quick dry top coat, and while there are many on the market, this one is 3-Free like all ButterLondon products which is important to me as a cancer patient. No fumes and no worries about using it on myself. It's also much less "fussy" than some other QDTC, applies smoothly and is self-leveling, and you can add a second coat a couple of days later to refresh your manicure.
I really highly recommend ButterLondon products, use them almost exclusively (check out the cuticle remover, oil, and strengthener, too). I have over 50 colours of polish and they are all unique, fun, and easy to work with.
