bareMinerals bareSkin Serum Foundation Auto-Delivery
Ordered Twice, Gave Up
I ordered too different times, choosing colors that I thought would be a good match. However, both had too much yellow, and did not offer the proper coverage. They also faded quickly and the texture of the foundation was very thin. Waste of money.
Does not work as described in promo
I have been a bareMinerals gal for over a decade. With my aging skin and rosacea, I thought that switching back to a liquid foundation might appear more youthful, so I purchased a bareSkin kit with the foundation, a tinted powder and the Perfecting Powder. Boy, was I mistaken! First of all, 2 drops on the brush covers only 1/2 my face, so now I am using 5 to 6 drops for coverage. Secondly, I shake the bottle, then have to squeeze the rigid bottle to get the 2 drops to fall onto the brush with arthritic hands. Thirdly, the product does not blend well. It sits on my skin or sinks into my pores. Coverage of blemish is barely existent. Doesn't work well with moisturizer, so I switched to PrimeTime thinking that might keep the product out of my pours. Nope, didn't work. The tinted powder, included in the kit, just sits on top of the bareSkin foundation. Then I added the Perfecting Powder which doesn't add the finishing coverage that Mineral Veil adds. I end up with too much gunk on my face, just sitting there looking back at me in the mirror. Not good! So I am switching back to my bareMinerals foundation. Amazing to me that some reviewers gave this a 5 star. Just shows how different our skin types can be.
Need to re-think the container
Love the coverage and color, BUT the bottle is terrible. Shake, Shake Shake and shake some more and maybe, just maybe you will have the make-up drop on the brush.
Takes some trial and error
The first time I bought this, I wasn't sure what shade to get. I use medium for the powder foundation, so I bought a shade that I thought was close. It was awful, and looked orange on me. I sent it back. I then tried a light shade, but thought it looked too light. I finally went to a local Bare Escentuals store and got color-matched, so now I have the right shade for me. I have acne scarred skin and dark spots, and this provides good coverage and concealing. I only give it 4 stars for two reasons: the difficulty in getting the right shade and also that the brush does not come with a plastic tube to protect it.
I made the switch to bareMinerals several years ago, but could never really find a shade that truly matched my skin tone- until now! I absolutely love the weightlessness of this foundation. It makes the skin look flawless; like I'm wearing nothing. I purchased it from the store but didn't buy the brush- BIG MISTAKE! I had to go back and buy the brush, overpaying. I wish I had seen it on QVC before buying it seperately because I would have purchased it here and saved some cash. My replacements will be purchased on QVC.
I've been a Bare Minerals girl for years & this product sounded great. I've been using it for months now trying to like it. I've tried brushing on the foundation, using the side of the brush for blending (as another reviewer suggested) & applying with my fingers. It's difficult to blend in without lines, often pills while smoothing it over my skin & settles into my pores (ugh!). So I added primer to my routine -- still settles into pores & wrinkles. Even with the primer the foundation disappears well before the end of the day. The only pro for this product is that BE offers so many color choices. So I've switched to another product & will use BE powder for the warm months. This one is definitely a miss!
Not for me
I didn't like the coverage, I use moisturizer before applying makeup in the morning and this liquid foundation just smears on and doesn't blend well with moisturizer. If I used it without moisturizer it was ok, but still smeared and had to really work at feathering to blend it in. Not a good value for me. I'll stick with the original bare minerals powders. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.
This is the best foundation and delivery system I've ever tried. It makes small discolorations on my face disappear! The color (bare linen) is perfect for my fair skin and doesn't look orangey like so many foundations do to me. It is a perfect neutral shade and I have tried and failed many times with different brands and shades. I use 4 drops of foundation and that is perfect for my entire face and it does not look like makeup, only looks like I have a nice complexion. I was skeptical about the brush delivery system but it works wonderfully. It blends well, no lines of demarcation at all. It is just a nice makeup/brush. I will definitely reorder.
This is to Oily!
I wanted to try the foundation and brush. Love the brush but the foundation is to oily on my skin. I discarded the foundation and kept the brush.
Not for me
Takes too much product for full coverage. Doesn't work well with serums and creams. Sits in lines and wrinkles. Does not "Melt into Your Skin."
Bad Color and Coverage
I really wanted to love this product but I couldn't even like it! The shade choices aren't quite right for women of color, way too golden. The texture and coverage were my biggest issues though. I am 56 and have great skin and almost no fine lines or wrinkles. This foundation created problems that I don't normally have. It didn't blend smoothly, even with moisturizer and primer, and settled into my pores in a very unattractive way. It didn't provide any coverage and managed to make my skin look worse than without any makeup at all. Maybe this might work best on women 15-22 with perfect skin. Anybody over this age should save their money!
I am (was) a strictly powder-only foundation wearer forever. Previously used the Ready Foundation and loved it. Wouldn't even have considered trying this but my BFF loves it. Plus, the inclusion of BE's skin-care ingredients and the no oils/water/chemicals composition, I thought I would give it one try. Wow. Between the quality product and the killer brush, I'm sold. It covers well, lasts longer than the powder foundation and looks great. I even have a better color match than the powder (to best match Ready to my hard- to-match fair skintone, I had to always cover the Ready with tinted Mineral Veil). For all of you who think you you'd never go back to a liquid-- but like great coverage and good-for-your-skin ingredients, give it a try!
