Makes Great Rice!
I have had this unit for MANY years. I am surprized by the previous review because I find that it makes a very large portion of rice, if desired. I rarely make the maximum, but still have PLENTY of rice for my immediate meal as well as more to use later. It can easily make large portions for 4-6 persons. I have made a variety of rices (white "sticky", basmati, jasmine, etc.) in this unit and it comes out great every time. I do find that it cooks brown rice a bit fast, so I counter that by adding a little extra water. Cooking rice with this unit could not be easier. The cover and removable "well" are both dishwasher safe. Nice feature: After the rice is finished cooking, it automatically switches to a "warm" temp. That is good, but I think the temperature for that cycle is warmer than it should be if you intend to keep the rice warm for many hours (some rice cookers can do that well). I usually stir the rice after the cooking cycle and quickly put the lid back on, and leave it on warm for only a few minutes longer before I shut off the unit. I find if you leave the rice on warm for a long time, the rice can get dry at the bottom (reason for 4 stars). Even with the unit off, the rice will stay hot for a pretty long time. I usually cook for myself, so I don't have to deal with other family members eating later such as may occur in some households. Overall, I love my unit because it makes a variety of rice well, fast and easy. Zojirushi is a reliable brand...I have one of their breadmakers which is also excellent.

Great for single serving
I really like this product. It is small and fits next to my stove. The rice came out light and fluffy. The steamer works great but it just holds a single serving. If you are cooking for two people you would probably want the larger cooker.
