Xantrex XPower 1500 Portable Electronic Generator
I purchased this battery to help power my sump pump during a power outage. We lost power during Hurricane Sandy for 14 hrs and I still had 3/4 power when the electricity came back on. It really saved my basement. Just a wonderful product. So happy with this product.
Great for emergencies and outdoor use
I did not want to deal with a gas or propane generator--with my luck I would burn my house down. This is great. I've used it when I need to vac the car, for the leaf blower (it did not even begin to drain the battery) and now I have a back up for my sump pump and to keep the fridge going when the power goes out (which happens here a couple of times a year). Only advice I would give is to use it every now and again to make sure all is well. The handle makes it very easy to move around (although getting it out of the box is an experience) and the wheels are very smooth rolling on stairs and floors. Will probably purchase another so I can have one upstairs and downstairs. Thank you QVC, for bringing us items you just cannot get at a local store.
Ready - until then it is an insurance policy lol
We bought these because last June we lost power for 5 days and lost quite a lot of food from our refrigerator and a separate chest freezer. We live in the country so we always keep a lot of food to save trips to the store. This July we lost power again for 30 hours. We had a shorter outage of about 6 hours in this month. We are not getting any younger and have some mobility issues.
We have not actually HAD to use these but we did try them out to make sure they would meet our needs. We like that either of us can roll them out and hook it up to whichever appliance we want to run. We tried it out on the refrigerator, the freezer, the coffeemaker, a fan, the TV, and a light. Everything worked fine and it was so easy and quick to grab and use. The coffeepot drained it the most but it helps to know the wattage of your appliances. We wouldn't need to run the fridge or freezer continually, just enough to avoid food loss, we also wouldn't need TV or internet on all the time but it will be nice to know and/or see what is going on in our area.
We haven't had to deal with the recharging issue in our test of course but have thought of how long it would take to use the car to recharge or getting a very small easy to handle gas generator that would recharge them. We love having these ready to go in an emergency, no running out to start a generator and get it running and running cords from outside to everywhere inside. The ease of use is unbeatable.
We purchased this item from QVC nearly 10 years ago and it is still performing great. We have frequent power outages and shortly after moving in here the power went out, and due to that my sump pump couldn't operate and the basement flooded. Shortly after that we saw this on QVC and ordered it. I can't imagine being without it. Now that my husband is no longer here it's nice to know that I don't have to mess with gasoline and pulling on the cord to start a generator. I simply plug in my sump pump and feel confident that my basement will stay dry. Needless to say I LOVE IT.
What a Gem!
I have this item and it is a gem! It will run your lights (18w halogen that is equal to 100w incandescent) 60 hours. If you experience a power outage, trust me - psychologically you want your lights on, you want to be able to listen to the weather, and if it is hot where you are you need a fan to stay as cool as possible. It also will jump start your car battery and charge your phone. It will do alot more as well because it has enough power to really last. You can buy solar panels to keep it charged or you can recharge from your car or from your AC outlet at home. It is silent. Can go from room to room and can go camping with you. I can't tell you enough how nice it has been to have this little gem on hand when the need arose!
