WEN by Chaz Dean Set of (6) 6oz. Cleansing Conditioner Set
Great Starter Set
I have been using Wen for two years and love it!! I recommend this set for new users. It is a great set to see which formula works best for your hair. Make sure you use the recommended amount. Use the cleanse, rinse, and repeat method. Split the recommended pumps in half and use half for the first cleanse and the other half for the second cleanse. The first cleanse gets out the product and oil from your hair. The second cleanse moisturizes and conditions the hair. Make sure to wet your hair thoroughly, add the cleansing conditioner and massage it into your scalp and hair. Add an extra splash of water to get it frothy and creamy. Rinse really well until all the cleansing conditioner is out of your hair. Do this process for both cleanses. Make sure tou leave the second cleanse on your hair for at least 3-5 minutes. Once you have rinsed the second time, add a half pump to a pump of the cleansing conditioner back into your hair as a leave in conditioner. You should have clean, shiny, bouncy hair. I also recommend the styling creme. All the Wen products are wonderful!!!
When this product first came out Chaz Dean said this one product replaces a ridiculous tray of ancillary products. Well it turns out he came out with a complete line of ancillary products, without which the cleanser/conditioner is not sufficient to obtain the soft and lustrous mane that his models have. This is a very expensive and High Maintenance product line. I absolutely must use the styling cream if I want my hair to shine and not have dry fly away hair. Granted, I live in a very arid climate with single digit humidity, and skin, hair and lips automatically need more moisture. But this product alone does not work as well as Chaz claims. I always have to add a couple of drops of the oil in between washes. And the styling cream, as I said before, is a necessity. Lastly, half the bottles have pumps that stop working half way through the bottle. Even when they do work, I have to pour the product into a pyrex cup to get to the last third to quarter of the product. The pump just stops pumping when you get toward the bottom, and the product is too expensive to just throw it out. The product is not user friendly. Pumping the product out while in the shower is labor intensive. Getting 7 pumps, or whatever the amount Chaz currently recommends, is slow and slippery and takes practice and entails waste. I purposely watched Chaz demonstrate his 2 brush blow out, and I finally realized that this product is ideal for celebrities who have people to do their hair. His high maintenance protocol is simply not practical for people who go to work in the morning and need to get their hair cleaned, dried and styled in a timely manner. Having said all that, when I do have the time and inclination to use several products, the results are great. There just are Negatives that need to be understood. Sorry to be so long winded.
Not for thin hair!
I got this in the 8 piece Beauty Testtube a few shipments ago (I'm on A-D) & have received it in every one of the Wen Kits I've purchsed. I have thin hair. I don't recommend this to anyone with thin hair. It made my hair limp & lifeless. I prefer Lavendar for thin hair.
Do not buy this product. This is the worst product. Made my hair course and took out the natural shine. I followed the instructions as described the more product I used, the worse my hair looked. I don' t even trust this product for my pet.
I use as a conditioner ONLY
I've been watching this on TV for so long now, finally broke down and bought the 6 bottle set. I really wanted to love it but I just like it, and as a conditioner only. If I don't use a "lather shampoo" my hair looks so greasy at the top, limp and flat. I have medium/thin wavy hair and it makes me look like i haven't washed my hair in days. Doesn't seem to matter which formula I use. I have the same result from them all. I have been using a regular shampoo and using this sparingly as a conditioner only and i will finish up my set that way. I have 3 teenage daughters who have all tried it and do not use it at all. Another thing, the pump only dispenses about 3/4 of the bottle so the last 1/4, i'm struggling to get it out of the bottle. I have decided to skip the pump on the next bottle I open and use the cap only. Aggravating to fight with it each morning but if not, so much is wasted. And at this price, I'm not wasting a drop. I will use up what I have as a conditioner only and won't be reordering. Sad because I so wanted to be a WEN girl too.
I've been using WEN from a Christmas TSV - initially, I loved it. After the first few times I used it, my hair was so soft and bouncy...but then after 4 weeks, my hair felt lifeless and heavy. My face began to break out, along with my neck and back. My scalp was constantly itchy and my hair began to fall out. I wanted so much for WEN to work for me that I ignored all the problems initially - and then I started reading some of the reviews here from others with sensitive skin, etc. and realized that the WEN was the culprit. I stopped using it, problems went away. This product isn't for everyone, but it seems like I'm in the minority in my opinion. Sorry Chaz, I really wanted to be a WEN girl!
Fig is the milder smell
I've had 7 different fragrances of WEN and all of them have the underlying smell of (I think) eucalyptus. My hair dresser wouldn't try the sample I gave her because it smelled like "cold medicine". : ) My overall opinion is that the Fig is the least like eucalyptus and I don't find the smell of it bad either.
I do really like the way that it makes my hair feel but I too find it a bit heavy if used all the time so I use it along with my professional shampoo. Two or three days of WEN and then my other shampoo, followed by the WEN again. Alternating them works for me.
Find Your Formula Here!
I ordered this set to try and find out which of the regular cleansing conditioners was most like the Fall Apple Spice. I had received it in a previous order, tried it, was turned off by the scent and posted a poor review, but when I went back to shampoo and conditioner, the difference was so obvious that I came back to QVC and stocked up because I knew it was a seasonal scent (and formula) that I wouldn't be able to keep ordering. Fall Apple Spice now smells like beautiful, shiny, bouncy hair to me. So I got this...put the Sweet Almond Mint aside for travel, don't care for Tea Tree or Fig (pew), would reorder Lavender (bouncy) or Cucumber Aloe (soft). I start Pomegranate tomorrow. I ordered the set of 5 seasonals because it came with the Fall Apple Spice. I'd like to rescind my previous review but it won't let me edit so I came here to say I'm definitely a Wen girl, working on finding the regular formula best for me.
I love using Wen. My hair has never been softer. I only use about 3 pumps for my entire head. I use regular shampoo when I feel my hair is getting weighed down for a freash start.
Gifts for friends to try
I really like Wen. I am torn between using this set for myself or my original plan which was to give one to my mom, sister, sister in law and best friend as little christmas gifts. I know my family wouldn't spend the money to try it..so thought I would help them out. I normally use Pomegranite but thought I would try the lavender. I have to be honest, I found the lavender made my hair almost greasy. So now I am worried I am going to give what I thought were cool gifts and instead my family will hate WEN. I have really thought about which one to give each using the guide to each fragrence. But worried they will have reaction I had to Lavender and wonder why I like this product. I just know I am glad I found out I dont like Lavender. I am not sure I will even use it again. That is how much I disliked it. I think I will stick to giving some as gifts. I am wanting to try the cucumber scent and see if I like this one. So far I think I will stick with Pomegranite. I think if people like the gifts..it will be worth it. I like the fact you can try and find right scent for you own hair.
Didn't Work for me! My hair after using was flat !
I thought , I've watched the program about WEN products for some years. I'll order it and see if I too would be happy with the results. No thank you Wen. This was not a match made in heaven. My hair after using this product felt like I just put some conditioner on it (The kind in a tube) and rub it through my hair. I can't send my shipment back fast enough. For those of you who it works well for congratulations. I'm going back to a shampoo that makes my hair feel clean and full of life.
I bought this six set and have been trying out all of them. My hair is long, at my mid back, it is thick (my hair dresser says it is like a broom) in a good way. I dye it with a health food product that only has three percent peroxide so it does not lighten your hair
and does not burn my scalp. I trim my layers often and my hair dresser says I have no split ends. The reason I am telling you this is because when I first read the instructions on how many pumps I was suppose to use, I thought hmm maybe not! But low and behold I only use a total of six (6) pumps for the two washings and my hair is beautiful. I suggest to everyone if you don't process your hair much and have relatively healthy hair I would suggest starting off with less so your hair won't feel weighed down. I have been using Pureology products and alternate between Lanza, and the cost of those shampoos and mositurers (all 32 ounce purchases) are three times more expensive than one 32 ounce bottle of WEN. The fragances of the six, my favorite is Pomegranite and Fig is my least.
