WEN by Chaz Dean Pets Cleansing Conditioner, 64 oz.
Love Wen But Hate This Smell
Not happy with the smell of this. I'm used to my dogs smelling very nice after grooming. This product needs a better fragrance.
WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!
I just used this for the first time on my yorkie puppy and 15 year-old chihuahua mix dog. They both tolerate baths, but today they acted as if they were being pampered. I know it sounds corny, but they looked at me as if to say "thanks for finally getting this right"! As for the negative reviews concerning the thickness of the product, I have suggestions. First, it is not that serious! Second, after mixing, turn the bottle upside down for a few minutes before the bath. The product comes right out. Finally, when time to rinse, fill the bottle with warm water to get any remains and pour over pet. Mine loved this warm feeling!
I did have one issue with the directions on the product that Chaz needs to fix. He neglected to say to rinse the dogs before putting on the product. Not everyone would know to do this. Chaz, you can put my check in the mail for this. I'm a teacher and could use it!
Our Bichon had some hot spot issues and we tried this. I took it to our groomer and they even raved about it. Highly recommended.
I purchased this for our two Boston Terriers to try since my husband and I love to use Wen on our hair. The cleansing conditioner makes their short fur soft and shiny. Pet owners if you wash your little four legged family member at home purchase this you will not be disappointed.
my dog loves this
I've been using this for a while. Initially I didn't like the strong maple smell but it seems to have mellowed and I lIke it better now. It does take a while to rinse out, especially when his hair is longer. My shih tzu suffers from allergies and had a big breakout on his skin this spring so I started bathing him weekly. I noticed his skin was less red and irritated after his Wen bath. Last week I thought I would use up some medicated shampoo from the vet instead. My boy started whining in the bath and wanted to jump out. I got out the Wen and he calmed down and enjoyed the rest of his bath. I was shocked! I'm sticking with Wen and am looking forward to trying the new scent.
Now I Can Get MY Wen Back!!
Some folks would think I'm loopy for having spent this much for pet "shampoo" but I assure you I am not! I've been using MY Wen hair care products on them with wonderful results. When I saw this, I knew I had to give it go. My ten rescue dogs range in age from 5 years to 17 years. Just as with aging people, their skin and fur changes as they age. WEN Pet has NOT disappointed me and I'm so happy with this purchase. Their fur is silky and their skin is not dried out/flaky as used to happen with OTC dog shampoos. My concern wasn't IF it would WORK, rather how long will it last me with so many dogs ranging in size from very small to large breeds and all sizes in between. I am happy to report that I have washed them ALL at least 3 times, using the instructions for usage, and I have plenty of concentrated product left for many more washes. I also realized that I probably spent MORE over time on other smaller bottles of pet shampoos as those products tend to be more watery and WEN Pet, being a concentrate, will go much further if used as directed. So, not only is this product a quality purchase, it's also priced reasonably. They don't smell froo-froo either; they all smell clean and fresh. I highly recommend this product and I will use it as long as WEN makes it!! THANKS Chaz Dean for coming up with this great product - now I can get MY Wen hair care products back!!
What a difference!
This cleansing conditioner for pets is wonderful. My Maltese gets regular grooming but I bathe her myself in between. This not only makes her smell wonderful and clean but it also leaves her hair soft and shiny. She does not scratch and lick as much nor does she get smelly as quickly. She is an integral part of our household and is always
with us, up close and in our faces. Thanks, Chaz, for a wonderful product!!
Didn't clean much
I love Wen for myself and expected to really like this.
First, for prep: I didn't find pumping difficult (as some other people mentioned). I did find mixing difficult. It took a lot of shaking and still wasn't blended completely. I stopped when the particles were small enough to get both conditioner and water to come out of the bottle. If the ingredient list was shorter and strictly natural, I would be more tolerant. Since there are other ingredients, I don't understand why there isn't something to improve miscibility. I haven't had any problems adding water to regular Wen.
Second, I had trouble with rinsing. My dogs aren't thrilled with water so this was a bit painful. I have a great portable shower head with strong pressure so this surprised me. It rinsed but took a very, very long time. My dogs have very short hair, but the hair is very fine (not the oily coat). Maybe that made a difference.
The deal breaker for me was the poor cleaning. I have one dog who will tend to have stool stains under his tail. The other dog gets a dirty "collar" from her tags. The hair is very fine and light. Both stains clean well with premium pet shampoos. Despite following directions precisely and doing a couple of applications of Wen, I couldn't get my dogs clean.
Need a video
This is an expensive product for dogs, therefore I would expect more detailed instructions. I used it on my German Sheppard and I felt I was using too much. Dogs hair start the dry process even while in the bath. With regular shampoos I had to re-wet the dog to get lather or to spread the shampoo to other parts. You can't afford to waste this product. So imagine trying to get this conditioner spread. I had to re-wet and I felt the money going down the drain. I use Wen for my hair and I know its a good product. Just need better instructions and I'm rather disappointed that you did not create a video. When I watch you talk about the human products you tell us what we are doing wrong and you show on video exactly what to do. I give good rating because I know the product is good just make a video of how to wash the dog with your product.
LOVE Wen For Pets
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!! I have a lab/pit mix with a nice coat but it wasn't smooth, the shedding was awful and he has dry skin. Since I began taking WEN to the groomer, the difference is amazing. Smooth, soft coat, less shedding, less itching. I just received the lavender, can't wait to try. Highly recommend for dogs.
I bought this for my son's dog and the product would not even come out of the bottle.
It was like Gunk! No way could you pour it in the plastic container to add water. If it wasn't way past the 30 day return policy I would send it back. The price is outrageous for something that you can't get out of the bottle.
LET ME BATHE THEM LIKE AT A DARN SPA!
I have 3 dogs - 2 long haired (mixed breeds) & one short haired (Jack Russell). The Jack Russell has allergies and her skin is VERY sensitive. I had already tried my Wen cleanser on my dogs and got decent results.
When I saw there was a product specifically for pets I figured I would give it a shot!
The scent is not bad. Compared to some products used in the past it is actually quite pleasant and much better than the smell of dirty dogs!
My dogs are fairly behaved for baths but NOT long baths. THEY LET ME BATHE THEM LIKE THEY WERE AT A DARN SPA! No fussing at all. I was floored because it did take longer than our 'normal' shampooing. Rinsing took longer than with regular shampoos. Results were fantastic. The long haired ones were bright & shiny and easily brushed. To my delight the Jack Russell had no reaction and her coarse hair was quite soft.
ONLY ISSUE: Product did take a bit to prepare. It is very thick and did not want to mix with the water at first. Well worth getting extra arm muscles shaking up the bottle. (Not worth demoting the rating.) I was able to mix 1 bottle proportionate for a medium size dog and cleanse all 3 of my small/tiny dogs. So, it is going to last forever.
I would definitely recommend this for our 'best friends'!
