Vitamix Creations II 48 oz. 12-in-1 Variable Speed Blender
Have used every day since I've purchased it
My mother has had a vitamix for a couple years now and would use it to make milkshakes. I'd see this on air and think "Wow, that's great, but is it worth it?" My only blender before this is a ninja pulse one that I would make frozen country time lemonade (just put a scoop of the mix in there with some water and ice). After a few years I could tell the motor was starting to make new noises, which is never a good sign. Once again I pondered getting one. "Is it worth it I said?" After 2 months it definitely has been.
Even when I saw my mother using her's I didn't really appreciate just how powerful this is till I started using it myself. Best part is it's not intimidating. Even though at first I was always careful to hold the top afraid it would fly off after the second time using it I realized that's not necessary at all. It's something I don't think they mention enough on air. I'll start it, get it up to full speed, and then clean any dishes I used and put food back in the fridge. Meanwhile this beast of a machine is liquifying whatever it was you put in there and I don't have to grab the base so it doesn't fly off the counter or hold down the lid. Of course you should always keep an eye on it but I can be 5 or 6 feet away and not worry. Although I don't have any of my own I wouldn't even be afraid to let children help load things up and even throw the switches, with close supervision of course. Even months later it's still fun watching it startup and pull everything into the blades or to use the tamper to shove in frozen strawberries straight from freezer to make a milkshake.
Prior to this I have never made a smoothie in my life. In my early 30s and I had to learn how to buy and prepare fruits and veggies for the first time. Now I've got the whole process down packed. It's saved me the $6 or so I spent every morning on breakfast.
As far as this package goes I'm very happy with the 48oz container that fits under cabinets. I've used several recipes out of the recipe book without any issues. The bottle I have yet to use and is too tall for where most of my shelves are adjusted.
So some tips for others:
- use a green smoothie in recipe book at first to get an idea on quantities. Once you get a feel for the ratio of fruit, veggies, and liquid start experimenting.
- buy frozen or freeze fruits and veggies. Lasts much longer and you can't taste the difference, just add little or no ice and more liquid. Also buy it in bulk and save money
- combine them beforehand and store in mason jars in freezer (I use the 24oz size). now in the morning I just add my liquid, give the jar a couple minutes to defrost or hold under cool water, dump it in and blend
- consider adding flaxseed or chia seed. can't taste it but really healthy. although I've noticed the flaxseed can stick to container. get yourself a bottle brush to clean the container (DON'T USE YOUR HANDS NEAR THE BLADES) or possibly clean it several times. I usually just leave it.
- when cleaning dump the soapy water in to the lid to clean it.
- while you're warned several times to be careful with time since people tend to let it run too long I've had the problem of not letting it run long enough. like my smoothies I have run for a minute or so once all the food is circulating which can take 30 seconds or longer since I tend to put a little less water and add through lid till it's circulating.
- once you get the hang of it, experiment. for example peel an orange and toss it in with a couple ice cubes and you have 100% natural orange juice. run it a little longer and it liquifies all the pulp so it ends up tasting pulp free.
And finally try not laugh too hard when reading recipes online that say "add vegetables and water, blend, then add thawed, chopped fruit and blend. then slowly add an ice cube at a time". Clearly they're not using a vitamix.
I LOVE IT!!
I love my Vitamix. LOVE IT!!! It does everything they say it will do and more. You have to follow the directions for making the soups. I have made two of them so far. Will do more this winter. I use my Vitamix EVERYDAY for my smoothies and it also helps with dinner if I need it to. Thank you QVC for making this an easy pay so I could have this wonderful machine!
This is well worth the money! We are saving lot of money, our family makes 3 smoothies a day.
Only used a few times so far and love it. Can not wait to try more recipes. Love the Vitamix blender. Looking at other items I would like to order in the future.
Good costumer service Vita Mix Company
I bought this over the X mas holidays from QVC. Had it for over 6 months the seal in the jar started leaking. I called costumer service to see if I could order a part to fix it because I used the blender a lot . They asked for my serial number and said it's still under warranty and had a new jar with lid and plunger within a week. Just told me to recycle old one. Did not have to mail anything back or anything . I would recommend this over the competitor the one that wears the black suit all over the body. I gave mine away did not compare
It does everything ....
I think I've written a review before ...but this machine just never ceases to please me. I had a nice small food processor (rarely use it) and thought I would use it to make fresh hummus looked so simply on food network ... And the motor didn't work. I pulled out this model of vitamix ( have it almost 2 years) and fresh hummus was ready in 1 minute. This and a toaster are the only kitchen appliances I keep out. Sturdy, easy to clean, so so simply to use. Love it.
I was contemplating sending back my Vitamix blender because of the expense, and other obligations I had to take care of. Even with the easy-pay, it's pricey. But, my oh my oh my! It is definitely worth the struggle. I decided to at least use it for the 30 day trial period, and decided that I LOVE MY VITAMIX'ER!!!! It totally liquifies fruits and vegetables to such a smooth consistency (skin, seeds, and all!) I also have a Ninja, which is absolutely wonderful for certain things, but it does not liquify my fruits and veges the way the Vitamix does. GET ONE! Thanks QVC and Jan.
Best blender ever!!!
My green smoothies have dramatically improved with my Vitamix. I will never buy any other brand of blender again. My kids are having fruit every day. I haven't tried the dry container yet but plan to try peanut butter soon. Thank you for taking the strings out of my green smoothies!!!
Absolute best purchase
I just bought this item and I feel I've already got my money's worth. It's easy and incredibly fast and I am eating more greens and fruits than ever before because they can be juiced so easily and I am getting all the fiber from the whole veg or fruit. I feel amazing and my skin has been clearing up to boot! I highly recommend this product. This purchase allowed me to have a lifestyle change for the better. Amazing! Thank you Vitamix!
My New Best Friend
This product is great. I purchased two of these, one for myself and one for my mother. It is AHHH-MAZING!!! Love my smoothies that I make daily. Great on these HOT Summer days. Can't wait to try soup in the Winter.
Superior Than All The Others
This item is superior than all the others. I'm not sure what you call it, but a Vitamix. It's a blender, mixer, smoothie maker, soup creator, ice cream maker etc all rolled up in one. It was so awesome my daughter bought one the next week. Awesome item. Did I said I love it!!!! This is a perfect gift for everyone.
Jury still out
My smoothie was not smooth. Nickel sized ice chunks despite blending twice as long as the recipes stated AND that was with using a spatula to scrape the sides (don't worry, i turned it off to do this), Hard to screw up a chocolate milk banana smoothie, but apparently i can. Maybe my expectations were too high for something costing $400
