Frequently Asked Questions About the ClearWave Phototherapy System for Acne

Q: How does the ClearWave work?

A: The ClearWave emits a specific wavelength of blue light therapy to skin pores without harming the surrounding tissue. The natural-spectrum LED head detects contact with the skin and dispenses a soothing, three-minute application of therapeutic blue light to the affected area, without any side effects.

Q: What type of acne is considered mild to moderate inflammatory acne?

A: Mild acne means you have fewer than 15 inflamed pimples that are reddish in color. Moderate acne means you have 15 to 50 pimples and pustules (visible accumulation of pus in the skin).

Q: How long does a treatment head last?

A: Each treatment head dispenses 600 applications of three minutes each.

Q: What's included?

A: ClearWave Phototherapy System for Mild to Moderate Acne
     Replaceable treatment head
     Rechargeable battery pack
     Charging stand
     Power supply
     Instructions for use

Q: How do you know the device is working?

When you have pressed the button and heard a beep, place the device against your skin. The device will detect contact and the blue light will come on. You'll notice a glow coming from around the edges of the treatment head and may feel a warming sensation.

Q: How long does the rechargeable battery last and where can you get replacements?

The battery performs six three-minute treatments before needing to return to the charging base. It will last for one to two years before needing replacement, depending upon frequency of use. Replacements may be purchased online at www.verilux.com or by calling 1-800-454-4408.

Q: Do you need to buy replacement LED light heads and, if so, how often and where can you get them?

The treatment heads last for 600 treatments before their intensity begins to diminish. Replacement heads are available at www.verilux.com.

Q: Will this work for dark-skinned African Americans?

Q: Are skin-care products available with this system?

No, but antimicrobial facial wash and non-comedogenic moisturizing lotion products are recommended.

Q: Is this for men and women?

Both men and women who suffer from mild to moderate inflammatory acne can enjoy the benefits of the ClearWave.

V26225 - Verilux ClearWave Phototherapy System for Acne 2.1 5 7 7
A Great Experience! ClearWave is a miracle worker. I have been fighting acne for over 20 years and have been loosing until now. Other treatments I have tried did not work for me and were just as hard on my skin as the acne, causing severe, painful dryness and red blotchy skin. I have been using the ClearWave for about 2 weeks and my skin is clearer than I can remember and now I have a really healthy glow! I am not sure why there is battery complaints; if you do not have the time to recharge it, you can plug it right into the wall and use it any time. It seems to charge during my treatment. I only use it cordlessly when I am not in front of the bathroom mirror. I can't imagine complaining about recharging the battery or the screws when the results are this good. 03-27-12
works so far I have tried this a few times myself and it has worked as stated. It did speed the healing of my breakout and my teenage daughter says the same. Doens't seem to irritate or dry the skin in anyway which is great. Have only used 1 week but have had no problems. Easier and cheaper than going to a doctor. Follow directions carefully and watch video. 03-20-12
Not worth it I love almost everything I have ever ordered from QVC.....This however is a different story. I agree with the other reviews. This did not hold a charge well. I don't think I realized either that it is 3 minutes per area and only covers a small ares. So if you have several areas this takes some time. You are suppose to use it up to 3 times a day. There is no way I could do it more than twice a day and even that is way to time consuming. I can barely get out of the house in the morning let alone having to take an extra 12-15 minutes to use this. If I don't have the patience for this my teenage son certainly is not going to either. I am sending it back. 02-13-12
So Disappointing Gosh, I am so glad to come back and see all the reviewers comments and experiencing the same issues I have. I thought I just got a lemmon. When I first made my purchase there had been no reviews yet. Otherwise I would have probably shyed away. I too have had the same issues and along with the others, I've also experienced the lights going dim then bright, dim then bright.... on a full charge! I too had to go and buy a tiny screwdriver set, one should have been provided. Now its going to cost me even more just to send the darn thing back! 02-12-12
Worst purchase I've made off QVC. As a teenager with moderate acne, I was excited to see this product. I ordered it with high expectations, unfortunately, it's been a battle since I opened the box. Not only is it semi-difficult to set up, it's RIDICULOUS. It "overheats" after 3 minutes and loses charge very quickly. I can barely do one section of my face with out dying or overheating. I will be sending this back tomorrow. I only gave it one star because I had to. 02-05-12
Might work in theory but had electronic issues I love QVC and mostly give 5 star reviews but there were two problem with this product. The charger was faulty and while it did light up and indicated to me that it was fully charged...it diplayed low battery after only one application. It simply would not hold a charge enough for more than one application. Secondly, not only does QVC not sell the replacement bulbs it never mentioned that they were required or that one must purchase them through the Verilux website for almost forty dollars per replacement. That should be mentioned in future presentations. 02-05-12
Delayed experience.... I was really excited to come home from work yesterday to discover this arrived. After settling down to relax on a Friday evening, I read the instructions to prepare the device to charge (12 hours) for the night so I could use Saturday morning. Ok, you have to attach the battery and screw the cover on, but the screw is tiny! I don't happen to have a screw driver that small. I have to put this off until tomorrow after I buy an eyeglass screw driver! I'm really disappointed that a) I can't use this right away and b) a special screw driver wasn't provided. 02-04-12
