Tria Beauty Precision Laser Hair Removal with Calming Gel
I was so excited to see this as the TSV, as a more affordable unit than the other Tria, so I decided to make the investment. I am very fair and have dark hair, so I am the perfect candidate. My main concern was hair on my upper lip and chin. I usually have waxed my upper lip and tweezed my chin hairs. My first disappointment came when I read the instruction booklet and discovered that you are supposed to stop tweezing 6 weeks BEFORE using the unit. We have a 90-day return window, so 6 weeks is half of that time. I think this is something that should have been discussed in the on-air presentation and on the online description, as well as taken into account when determining the 90-day return policy. I stopped tweezing and began shaving (much to my dismay - the hair grows in with the blunt edge so it looks thicker and darker than when growing back after tweezing or waxing). I have used this unit every 1 to 2 weeks for nearly 3 months and have seen ZERO reduction in the hair on my upper lip and chin. I used it on the highest setting for all but the first treatment, and did not use the calming gel. The pain was tolerable most of the time; however there were some spots that would take me by surprise with the zap. I also found a problem with the device not firing often. I would lift the device up and move it over 1/4" and wait for the zap, but it wouldn't come. I'd have to lift it up yet again and put it back down and then it would zap. I'm not sure if I got a defective unit or if that is what others have experienced as well. As one reviewer stated, for safety reasons, this cannot be the same strength as the professional lasers, and apparently it just is not so effective as they are either. I am very disappointed in this product and will be returning it.
best purchase ever
After getting pregnant my hormones really changed and I got a few patches of hair on my neck and under my chin .
I tweezed the hairs but over the years they became thicker and coarse! I even had a dark shadow from the hair and ingrown hairs and pimples. It's been 3 months and the results are amazing! My hair is finer softer and hardly there, and my skin is soft and smooth! Best money I've ever spent!
Patience For Final Results
I got this as a gift from my mom because I have trouble with ingrown hairs when I shave. Reading the directions you have to do this six times ever two weeks which means that progress is really slow before you get the desired results because they are permanent. Since I have been researching laser hair removal it can cost up to a couple thousand dollars with the multiple treatments so this was a nice alternative. My hair is thick and dark so I'm probably need to do a couple of extra treatments but it looks great. I think this is a great alternative for girls and guys who get ingrown hairs when shaving and want something permanent.
Does work with TIME.
I have been using on my face and bikini area. I had a whisker on my face that was driving me nuts. After a couple months of zapping weekly it has finally disappeared. It does not work on the lighter hairs though. As for having to shave, I know many women who do this anyway because of the peach fuzz.... shaving DOES NOT make your hair grow back thicker or more course.
In the bikini area I have seen a 75% reduction in the amount of hair (and I do a large area)
excited then disappointed
The main issues are the hairs I wanted to get rid of on my upper lip, chin, & neck. they
were irritating as they would keep coming back, what's up with that. So I was really
excited about this, but........ you have to SHAVE the areas which makes more thicker
hairs that you didn't want or have before.( Not just tweeze ) how can you just shave one
hair or a few without shaving multiples you don't need to ? I am hoping I am not stuck with a worse unwanted hair problem than before with facial hair. the underarm shaving situation is fine to shave, not like the face/neck areas. not the results I was expecting & hoping for regrettably.
Sorry It Didn't Work For Me .
I don't know if it work for others or not. I was disappointed that it didn't work for me. I returned it after giving it a good try.
It does not work - Disappointed
Firstt of all, this device had the WORST directions I have ever received. Confusing, disorganized and in ridiculously small type.
I really gave this device a fair trial for several months, using as directed. I saw virtually no result, even on relatively fine dark hair on my very fair skin, I realize that it has to be relatively mild for home use, but this did not work at all. It went back. Disappointing.
I used this 1 time per week on the level 3 setting, for the full 3 months, and I saw very little hair reduction. I would say about 10% reduction on my underarms, and 20% on bikini. Those results are not worth keeping it. I have very fair skin, and very dark hair, so I am a perfect candidate. Yes, it does hurt, but not terribly so. I appreciate Tria giving the long trial period, and as a result, am open to trying another one of their products. But, this one was a huge disappointment.
I have this Tria, and I only wish I had it 30 years ago! I'm 57 and have had thick whiskers that I have been plucking from my chin for years. Not easy to tweeze with bifocals! The hairs have been turning white, so I got this just in time.
The instructions said that to hit the growth cycle of the hairs, you'd have to wait two weeks between treatments. Nonsense! If I shaved a whisker three days ago, and it's back, I shave and then treat it again. I have two stubborn whiskers left, but the hair is now light and fine. I will get them yet!
On my underarms I have done the same, There and on my lower legs, I would say that each time I treat, it kills 70% of the number of hairs. My underarms are already almost clear, and I'm down to about a dozen hairs on each of my lower legs.
When those are done, I'll start on my upper thighs.
I think if I had waited two weeks between treatments, I would have gotten really discouraged.
I never used the gel, and I treat on the highest setting. Pain is momentary. The first treatment under my arms was tender for a few hours-- like razor burn or a sunburn. Where hair is dense and dark, it hurts the worst.
Worth every penny!
No no and no
I have dark hair & medium skin tone. I bought this mainly to use on upper lip & maybe bikini area. This worked perfectly fine w/no problems the first time I tried it but when I went back to do the second treatment, it w/do two areas & then stop. I tried recharging but it w/just not turn back on again. Based on how many negative reviews there are, I don't think it's purely user error. Needs to go back to the drawing board. I've shopped w/QVC for about 15 years now so I'm hoping they'll someday soon offer a better, more reliable laser hair removal system. I am happy w/the extended return policy on this though but had to send it back
Not A Good Investment
I was tired of the daily plucking and weekly waxing not to mention the discomfort. So I saw this and ordered it. I used it as directed on the maximum setting and I couldn't see any difference at all. I'm hesitant to try anything else.
Bathing Suit Ready
All it takes is patience and attentiveness. We've had this for two months and the results are spectacular. I make great use of the time I save. Without the razor obligation, I can spend more time on real skin care, so I'm smooth and radiant! Thank you, TRIA.
