Great for switching GPS between vehicles
My job requires frequent travel and I don't get the same vehicle every time, just whatever one is available in the motor pool on the day I'm traveling, so I wanted a dashboard mount to make swapping the GPS a breeze. A friend had a beanbag "mount" for her Garmin GPS and that sold me on the concept, so I immediately started looking for one for my TomTom. When I've used the GPS on the windshield, I've had it fall off a couple of times because it didn't stick completely or the windshield was too cold when I stuck the suction cup on the window. The GPS holds very well on the mount and the bag sits firmly on the dash and never moves. I don't use the hook, even in my own vehicle, and I've never had a problem with the bag moving or shifting. I love the convenience of being able to have it in my lap when I'm setting the route, then I just plop it on the dash and I'm ready to go! It's easy to see and easy to reach. No more tell-tale "suction cup" marks on your windshield that screams "I have a GPS in my car...just break in and steal it!" I have a innocent looking bag that I store the GPS, cord and dashboard mount in when not in use and then I can put it in the backseat or in the trunk and no one knows there's a GPS in the car. One reviewer mentioned that the mount interferes with the power plug, but I don't see how that's possible unless the mount is used backward. The open area is at the front, and you just use your suction cup to stick to the smooth surface and swivel the mount so that the GPS will be upright and facing you. This is worth every dime in the convenience factor! A great product and a great Christmas present to myself!

Bad Design
I do not know why they call this a 'bean bag' when it is as rigid as a frozen carp.
It should be flexible so it would conform to the dash.
It is so poor a design that they give you a hook to keep it on the dash
It is heavy enough to stay on the dash.

Great item!
Bean Bag Dashboard Mount stays put even with hard turns. Had difficulty seeing and adjusting when mounted on windshield. This also allows for my "co-pilot" (wife, or me if she's driving) to hold and see/read directions when in heavy traffic. Friend saw it - liked it so much he ordered one immediately.

this is great
I don't even use the hook--I simply put this on the dash with the TomTom 350xl attached on the plate and it has not even tried to move. It is heavy enough to stay in place through turns...I am short and couldn't reach my TomTom if it was mounted on the windshield so this is perfect--I can reach it easily. I highly recommend this for short people, people who drive SUV's with the windshield far away from you.

Virtually useless
I bought this mount hoping I could take the GPS off the windshield of the car. The small right angle power plug that goes into the bottom front of my unit is pointed toward the rear of the unit when plugged in. This conflicts with the dashboard mount and makes it impossible to use. The concept is good but they should have given more engineering research with the design.

best gps dash mount on market
I like the versatility of the mount. I prefer this type rather than the window type, which you have to leave on and which signals someone that you may have a gps in your car. This may tempt someone to break in your car. The only problem I have encountered is the small hook that attaches to the bean bag. I am on my second one. The advesive on the bottom will not stick to my dash, so I do not use it. Tom-Tom tells me I have to return the whole bag mount, they do not replace just the hook. So, I just don't use the hook.
