What a nice piece to use for cooking... Very nice, no paint issues at all, there never is w/ my Temptations orders!!! I leave this out on the stove sometimes because it looks so darn good!!! You will enjoy it for sure!!!
Rated 1 out of 5 by Gage Shouldn't have bought it
I found it to be only good to boil water or reheat a broth based soup. I tried to cook stews, Mac n cheese, red sauce, and some other things in it, only to find out that EVERYTHING STUCK OR BURNT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE POT. Also it was hard to clean. YES, I have many many temptation items even giving then as gifts, but this one shouldn't have been to market before it was deemed useable.
Rated 5 out of 5 by carlcake My first as is product
I got this in old world black. Not the colors or pattern I usually get but for the price I couldn't pass it up. The size is great, clean up easy and cooks so even! My only concern is the knob on the lid. It looks as if it was broken off and glued back on. Lid fits good and the rest is in excellent condition. Just hope the lid hold up.

A beautiful dish for stove top and oven, I have an as is product, and it works great. I have used it several times since I received my dish. i am very well pleased with this item.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Elizabeth73 Doesn't work on flat top ranges
I wanted to love this but the rim around the bottom prevents a flat surface for my flat top stove. It would probably work well on a gas stove but not enough surface touches my flat top to heat it properly. I tried to sear chicken in it, but it never browned and when I washed it, I discovered scorch marks on the bottom inside of the rim. I think it is a great covered baker for the oven, but not for the stove top. Which is the reason I bought it and why I gave it two stars. I thought about returning it, but I will give it to my mom who has a gas stove.

I have had my dish for several months and use it All the time. I don't know what I did without it! Great large size. Wish Tara had more stove top items.

This stove top / Oven baker Is amazing. I usually do not review my purchases, however, this baker Is extremely versatile and perfect for one pot meals. I use it for brisket and potatoes starting on stove and finishing in the oven. That Is the best feature of this product. I would highly recommend this for one and all who enjoy cooking and want Easy!
Rated 5 out of 5 by Biker Girl Beautiful And Functional
I have this one in eggplant. Not only is it beautiful, but it functions exactly as billed! Having read all of the negative reviews to date (and the numerous five-star ones!) I wanted to test drive it thoroughly myself before reviewing. Please bear with me here:
I put in frozen chicken drumsticks, raw chopped onion, butter, olive oil, white wine and seasonings, lid on, then put it in the oven on warm. When the chicken was defrosted I brought the heat up to 350 and let them cook. When the meat was done, I brought the whole thing out of the oven and onto my electric stovetop on medium setting, and allowed the drippings to reduce and the meat to fall off the bones. Meat came out tender and thoroughly infused with drippings, and was removed by spoon and eaten for dinner. Then, I filled up this wonderful baker with water and made a stock on stovetop of those bones and the remaining drippings! The baker deglazed perfectly. Then, stock removed, the baker washed easily in warm soapy water, no scrubbing necessary to bring the interior back to its original snowy whiteness. Please remember that any white cooking surface is bound to develop some stains with time, my enameled cast iron has done that over the years, but this is normal and does not represent any problem or defect. It may well happen with this Temp-tations piece, we'll see what happens in a few years! I consider it to be patina. ;/) My suggestion about stovetop cooking is to use the lid to get higher temperatures inside, not to apply more burner heat. This technique really works, and you get plenty of ventilation for reduction and browning (notice the tiny vent hole in the lid!) It is dishwasher safe, but there was scarcely need since it cleaned so easily! Another real PLUS of this baker is that, although a HUGE size, it is not overly heavy and very secure in the hands; the side handles and knob on the lid are easily grasped with pot holders. I consider that a very important safety feature. This will be wonderful to use in hot summer months for oven-style cooking on stove-top, as well as all winter long! And it is a perfect serving piece as well, looks so pretty on the table. I am delighted with this new offering from Temp-tations, and so glad to have this new tool in my kitchen. I look forward to seeing future offerings using this remarkable ceramic made for both the oven and the stovetop! (BTW, I have and love the oval chicken baker listed below.)
