K17392 - Technique 1.5 Quart All in One Double Boiler
A Good Pot for Gravy
This product came along just as I was getting frustrated making gravy that did not burn. Used the pot the other evening. Put it right on the table with a pad underneath. Kept our velvety gravy hot all through dinner. I am so happy with this pot.
Best for Chocolate Makers
I make and sell chocolate truffles and this is what I use to make the chocolate ganache that goes in the middle of the truffles. If you want professional results, use this pan. Chocolate should never come in contact with water/ steam and this keeps the chocolate away from the condensation, and it never burns.
I love this item! It solved my problems with melting chocolate for candy and cooking custards. No you cannot pour the chocloate out but I work around this. I had no problems getting the melted chocolate out my problem was melting the chocolate without burning it. This double bolier solves that problem!!
Use as a Fondue Pot
I received this as an early Christmas gift for making my many pounds of Christmas candy. It is beautiful! I love how it looks and feels. It melts chocolate so smooth and wonderfully. The problem comes from a faulty design. The top edge is not leak proof. When you pour the contents out, the interior water comes out. A disaster if you are using chocolate, one drop of water killed (seized) an entire batch!! I would use this as a fondue pot and dipping chocolate but nothing else. I feel the design limits the boiler's use to dipping only. Beware fellow chocolate users.
You will never again have burned sauce again!!!! It is just perfect!!!!
Just what I needed
Ironically, just days before I saw this double boiler pot on QVC, I was dumbstruck b/c I had made a recipe the day before and could have used this then. I had been attempting to heat up buttermilk to a temperature of 'warm' in a regular pot for lighter, diet mashed potatoes, w/directions warning clearly NOT to heat it beyond 'warm.' Despite the care I took to heat it low and slow, not going beyond warm, I still managed to somehow warm it a tad beyond the point it should go--it curdled. I couldn't believe how sensitive the temperature must be to heat buttermilk before curdling. I had to throw it out and start over again. I state this story as a case in point for my reason to purchase this double boiler. I wish I had it sooner. I will use it for many reasons but also for heating up buttermilk for lighter mashed potatoes w/o the fear of a slight temperature variation ruining it again.
Good Kitchen Item
I received this double boiler yesterday & it seems very nice. Of course, I have not had time to use it yet. If anyone else who has purchased this has come up with other uses for it other than melting chocolate, keeping mashed potatoes warm, scrambling eggs & making gravy, please let us know. Of course, if I only use it for those things, I feel it will be worth the money.
Received it yesterday was making a Chocolate Cake for my Son in Laws birthday today As I was mixing the cake batter I had the chocolate melting cake in the oven and chocolate was ready to make the frosting this is great if you only use it at Thankgiving to make grave it is well worth it I LOVE IT
Had this for a while and used numerous times. Just saw a presentation on other ways I can use it (thanks QVC). Easy to use, easy cleanup & great price. I would definitely buy for anyone that cooks. Will definitely start using to keep mashed potatoes warm and will try making scrambled eggs in it. Go for it - you won't be sorry.
