TP-Link Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great value I can't believe how well this little guy works. I first set it up as straight extender via WPS button - no-brainer, it just works. Then since I have a LAN in my house I wired it direct by disabling the DHCP and made sure the SSID+passphrase were the same as my existing wireless access point, and, bang, that worked even better. My phone switches to the AP that is the best as I walk around. I got it set up in the far bedroom downstairs where there was a deadspot, works great. 3,000 sq ft two story split level house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved my range problems! Our house has only one cable outlet that worked with the modem, so we were stuck having it at one end of the house. The signal was spotty on the other side and this worked perfectly. I tried other range extenders, but hated having to jump to another network (like: NETWORKNAME_ext). I chose this one as it lets you use the same SSID for the network.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money When I first bought this extender, I set it up rather easily, but about a week later it just stopped working. I couldn't figure out how to reconnect it to my internet, so I called customer service. After waiting on hold for over 30 minutes, I finally got a representative but only had enough time to give her my call back number before getting disconnected. She never called back (not sure why they ask for a call back number, then), and every time I have called since I have been given a ridiculously long wait time (more than I have had time for). Now, the return window has closed on my extender, and I still can't get it to connect. The lights will show it's connected, but it doesn't show up on my networks. I have tried online help, but that hasn't worked either. A complete waste of time and money. I would absolutely NOT recommend this to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Economical range extender If you are looking for a cheap, reliable range extender and are not a heavy bandwidth user, the TL-WA850RE is for you. Like all of TP-Link's range extenders, the TL-WA850RE is a cinch to configure. Using WPS, it is as simple as pressing a button the router and then pressing the button on the range extender. If WPS is not an option, you can use TP-Link's Tether app for iOS and Android from any mobile device. Out of the box the unit has a nice look to it which blends well with my outlets. I like that TP-Link designed this extender to make sure it doesn't block the second outlet. The LED lights are subtle yet convey everything you need to know including signal strength. This range extender is not dual band, but simply 2.4GHz. What that means is that you will get better range with 2.4GHz than with 5GHz but the speeds are not as high as those offered in the 5GHz band. The TL-WA850RE also has an Ethernet port to allow it to act as a bridge for wired devices. In my usage, I had a consistent signal with adequate speeds one floor up on the opposite side of my house. The extender has been stable, never losing a signal or needing to be rebooted. If this is your price point and speed range, look no further. Otherwise, for a little more money, TP-Link offers dual band range extenders which may be worth the upgrade cost. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs Well, Reliable and Stable. This product is very useful if you have multi-story/big house or office. This is quick and easy to setup. It will increase or boost Wi-Fi signal therefore less or no dead wireless zone. After installing this extender, I am getting good signal in my garage and backyard. Now with the help of it, I am getting coverage in the entire house. I recommended this product to those who have Wi-Fi dead zones. The quick install guide is easy to follow. This extender supports 802.11 n/b/g band (wireless) compatible devices. It does not have support for 5GHz network. It does not work with wireless 802.11 AC band either. I also used this as a bridge and connected device via Ethernet cable, the performance was good. It is not as bulky as traditional extender. I find this device very useful to extend the range of wireless signal. This is also a great alternative to provide wired connection where physical wired connection (RJ45/Ethernet) is unavailable as it can work as a wireless adapter. Submitted as part of a free sample program. Pros: Easy Installation, Compact Design Cons: Not compatible with 802.11AC or 5Ghz band

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works like a Charm!!! This is an inexpensive but very effective range extender. Set up was super easy and took less than 5 minutes. Perfect for the home or small office. Bonus is the ethernet port that you can use for a streaming TV or DVD. Speed is great but only supports b/g/n. Definitely recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Submitted as part of a free sample program This is a pretty good extender, have tried other extender and this one is pretty straight forward to use, plug setup and move to ideal location. The LAN connection is fair but the wi-fi is pretty reliable doesn't drop or lose connection. Change IP address on my modem and reconfiguring wasn't bad as long as you follow the instructions or hit the reset button to restart over.
