TP-Link Archer C8 Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Tp-Link wireless router is robust and resilient. TP-Link Archer C8 Wireless Router v.1 My word of the year is "resilience," especially for user configurable wireless networking devices. If a mistake during configuration turns your router into an expensive brick, it's not going to enhance your wireless networking. The Tp-Link wireless router is robust and resilient, like that battery-powered bunny we all know, the C8 just keeps on going. The C8 comes out of the box all shiny and new with an exterior build comprised of a sturdy, well ventilated white shell with a powder-coated metal bracket/stand. The Router's status LEDs are blue and wrap the top front face edge of the C8. The Ethernet LAN/WAN ports and their layout is a standard configuration. I was impressed by the quality rear panel solid build. The three antennas are a close fitting install, the metal bracket that runs along the top of the unit made screwing on the three articulating antennas difficult. I just couldn't get a decent grip on the threaded connector. The power cable is of decent build quality yet I noticed that the weight of the power cord was enough for the power adapter plug to shake free of it's socket. This occurred three times as I was connecting cables to the unit for my install; once I placed the C8 the power cord was stable. The C8 setup was quick and easy. Network connections were fast and responsive. My first comparison was to see how the signal propagation compared to my installed Deco M5 Mesh network install. I wanted to observe C8 real-world signal propagation. I have included a series of signal trace graphs. (graph.1) Shows the C8's signal maintained a constant power level over the test duration. There are four pertinent traces. Three traces are named (azsunset) these are the three Deco M5 units located in different locations in my residence. For the test, I placed the C8 in the same general area as my Deco M5 and my cable modem signal feed. Continued in next post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best router for the price I've had the V1 version of this router now for 2 years, and it's been fantastic. The range was great when I had it at the middle of the 2nd floor of my house (it's 3 stories). It reached all parts of the house with the proper antenna configuration. Recently, I switched internet providers where I had to put it on one side of the second floor and added some powerline adapters to extend the network. I even have 2 thumb drives attached to create multiple share drives that my kids use for their schoolwork and back it up to the cloud nightly (save me a couple of times recovering their homework). The 2016 firmware was a great improvement on the interface and made it much easier to manage from both my PCs and my cell phone. It's been so good, I turn off my internet provider's wifi router (it's a combined modem/router) to use it instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looks & Great Performance! Archer C8 AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router *My Test Setup Desktop PC Windows 10 Pro AC1900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter (Archer T9E) *Setting Up Setting up the router for the first time is quick and easy to do. Once everything is properly connected, you'll be online in less than 5 minutes. And when you're ready to dig into the router's more advanced settings to customize to your liking, you'll have plenty of options to dig into. You can set parental controls for certain users, as well as set up a Wi-Fi guest network for your guests, which keeps them off of your main network. Also, the router's web management page is very nicely done, too. All the different settings are laid out perfectly and easy to navigate. *Wireless Performance After getting the Archer C8 router setup and running, I ran speed tests while connected to the router over both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Listed below is the current Internet plan I am subscribed to, along with those speed test results. My Internet Subscription Plan: Download 100 Mbps / Upload 10 Mbps Archer C8 Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz Speed Test: Download 111.65 Mbps / Upload 12.18 Mbps Archer C8 Wi-Fi 5 GHz Speed Test: Download 120.63 Mbps / Upload 12.14 Mbps As you can see, those are great speed test results. And the router was able to easily handle multiple devices connected at once- streaming HD content and gaming without any issues. I also have a very large backyard area, and the router provides excellent coverage in and around my entire home. I can stream HD videos and music without any issues at all. And I had 3 mobile devices all doing just that, and all were able to stream perfectly. For the best wireless coverage, be sure to place the modem in an open area of your home free of obstruction. Do not place the modem in an enclosure, under a desk, or block the vent-holes. Best of luck setting your network up. Submitted as part of a free sample program

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Wi-Fi and router for the price The Archer C8 is a good router with gigabit ports. I have a gigabit switch connected to the router and it functions as I expected. The wifi signal strength is good, but I had to use a repeater on my first floor (since my router is on the second) floor to boost the signal. I would recommend this router for people who have smaller living spaces, as it's simple, easy to set up and most of all, it works. Living in a larger residence, and the need to add a repeater is why I gave this 3 stars. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked great for 10 months I bought this based on the specs and loved the crystal clear pictures on my TV. I was really happy with it until it suddenly stopped working, don't know why. I tried for several hours to restart modem, router, service, unplugged things, and it turned out the router is dead. Can't connect to it or to the internet. Dead dead dead. Very disappointed. Such a compact little router did a great job, but no more. Very sad.
