"Sunny's Kitchen" Cookbook by Sunny Anderson
Not what I expected
This is an OK cookbook. Not typical of what I've seen Sunny cook. Strange recipes.
Not The Real Sunny
Love Sunny on tv where she cooks from heart and with pride to share family favorites and traditions. This book did not give me the smiles that I get when I see her cook and taste her old and true foods. Maybe the next book will represent the "Original Sunny".
I've had the cookbook for awhile now and have made quite a few recipes. They were all very tasty-----BUT, the Mac & Cheese???? THE BEST!! When this book comes out it automatically opens to the spicy M&C!!!
This is not a 30 minute and you are done cookbook. These recipes are special, for when you really feel like cooking something special. Good job Miss Sunny, good job.
Bad title but otherwise good cookbook
I think "easy food" in the title is a little misleading. When I see the word easy I think "quick and easy" and while the recipes aren't difficult they are not what I would necessarily call easy and some are a little time consuming. But, after that being said, I am happy with the book. I could see myself making about half the recipes in there--which for me is good. So far I have made the tuna casserole, braised cabbage, and red velvet brownies. They were a hit with my family. I can say that I made them for weekend meals when I had more time. So for me this is a good book for weekend cooking or making something for a special meal or occasion. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars, again, only because I think the title is misleading and someone could pick it up thinking it's fast and easy cooking.
I don't understand what the 1 star ratings were expecting but this book is amazing!!!! I have a collection of "everyday" cookbooks and this book puts them to shame. I love the different wordly flavors that Sunny is introducing us to and I actually have it on my nightstand because I read it like a novel! It has exceeded my expectations and is my FAVORITE cookbook for sure! I'm the kind of girl that makes grilled herbed lamb chops over saffron rice and wilted spinach & onions on a Wednesday night for dinner so for me, it is definitely an everyday cookbook. My 6 year old & 11 year old love meal time and my husband is still impressed daily with my love of cooking...especially since we have such a full schedule! Five stars aren't enough for this book! I LOVE IT!!!!
I was unhappy with this purchase.
The recipes were just strange and did not appeal to me. Chorizo, Quinoa, and zucchini Hash. Just not my cup o tea.
I thought it would be easy cooking ideas, but the recipes are very complicated. They use a lot of ingredients, many of which I would never just have sitting in my cabinet. Disappointed because I thought it would have lots of recipes for everyday cooking, which it does not.
Nothing Like I Expected
This cookbook was not the good Southern cook book I expected. Returned it.
definitely not what I was hoping for
I preordered this cookbook and was so anxious to get it. As soon as I got it I sat down to read it. I thought the way this book was built up it would not be like the regular "celebrity" cookbook. It was NOT real people food. It was not what I, a mid-west gal, would be making for supper! Sorry, QVC, this was not one of your best cookbooks. I have many that David has recommended. This one was a miss.
Love the book and yes many steps but hey I love to cook as well. Sunny is my girl and I will support anyway I can. Looking forward to the next one!
So far I'm enjoying this cookbook. I love the pictures and the back stories for each recipe. If you like to try different flavors and use cooking as an event then you will enjoy this book. There is nothing "common" about it. Step out of the box and try something new. You may enjoy the new and different flavors. How will you know if you don't try?
Was not impressed with this book at all. Would send back if the return wasn't too much. Love to watch her on tv, but this book did not do it for me.
