Not the Best to Kill Bacteria on Floors
I previously owned a Monster floor steamer, which I loved, but it finally quit after several good years of use. I purchased this unit based on the positive reviews. I liked the idea of having the hand-held wand to clean areas other than the floor. But, the main reason I bought it was for the floor. Imagine my surprise when I read the instructions and it said, and I quote, "To effectively kill bacteria and microorganisms, repeatedly mop a single small area (approximately 3' x 3' for best results), for at least 2 minutes." Are you kidding me??? I did a rough calculation, dividing my tile floor into 3' x 3' sections---it would take me over 80 minutes to effectively kill bacteria on my floor! It took 2 seconds of steam with my Monster. If I'd known this in advance, I would not have purchased it.

Very Dissapointed!
I researched all the steam cleaners on QVC and ordered this one because of all the
good reviews-what a mistake that was! I'm not sure what everyone is bragging about-
this steam cleanr is horrible. The blue light goes on every 30 seconds, there is not enough power to clean soap scum or the oven door, the attachments wear out almost
immediately and in the end I had to do what I was trying to avoid- getting on my hands and knees to clean. Also there is no way to know when you need to refill the water.
Don't waste your money on this one!

So far - so Great!
Just purchased and used once all over the house. Has done great so far. I only wished I had more pads than just two. The attachment for the bathroom was awesome.

Just okay
I bought this primarily to clean showers, tried it today on shower, did a very poor job on soap scum, however it did very well on cleaning out gunk under shower sliders. Worked well on cleaning patio sliding doors. Not to great on the glass, but again cleaning out the runners worked well. It does a better job on my kitchen and bathroom floors than my Shark, not a lot better, but better. I find it clumsy to move around, the electric cord is not long enough, it tips over frequently. I wished I had returned it. Giving 3 stars due to the floor cleaning. Oh, and the users's guide is a joke. I would not recommend this. It also is bulky to store and takes awhile to heat up. Some of the attachments are also a joke.

Great Purchase
I purchased this for my mother who is 83 years old, still lives by herself and does her own cleaning. The steamer that she had broke and I was trying to find a similar one to replace her old one. She always used her old one to clean all of the windows in her house. The day it came, we opened it and she went right to work cleaning her windows. She loves it!!! It does the job that she wanted it to do and she is able to handle it with no problem.

JUST SO SO
Was looking forward to receiving this cleaner, extremely disappointed...wish they would bring the Oreck dry clean system to QVC! Come on QVC the viewers will love Oreck's machine.

Soggy Mess
I too am extremely disappointed. Had high hopes to use this throughout my house.
First tried in my bathroom. Like previous reviewer, spent considerable time and effort on tub/surround with no good outcome. Could take my fingernail and scrape off soap residue after I cleaned. Had staining around the drain in my tub and sink. No help.
Ok on floors, but not made for tight spots or effective in corners. Lots of water left on floor too...like you had been down on your hands and knees and did not wring out the rag!
Tried on my windows and although it did clean, what a waterfall! I would never attempt to use this on bedding, upholstery...it would be a soggy mess. Even if I patiently waited until that darned blue light went off (comes on fast after you begin to clean), I got steam but also LOTS of water.
I concluded I might as well just continue cleaning as I did in the past. Plus, this is not a small unit to store.
I am not a fan of a multitude of cleaning products for household chores. I was hoping this steamer would be a great sanitizer. Not so for me :(

DISAPPOINTED
I purchased this steamer because of the 5-star ratings given by many others. I'm not sure what they are cleaning, but to me it was a big disappointment. I wanted this mainly to clean the soap scum from my shower walls and floor. It did not do that. I tried every attachment possible and nothing did the job. It should have been fairly easy, as the walls are slick acrylic. The small heads were useless. After one use, the bristles were flattened. Also, there is no way to tell when the tank is empty or near empty, and the blue light comes on continuously while in use, meaning it has to reheat. It does a somewhat decent job on the floors, but there are many areas I cannot get to with the floor attachment, such as around and behind the toilet. Still have to get down on my hands and knees to get that, and I am getting too old for that! Wish demonstrations were a little more truthful.

SteamMax SF-275
This product will create steam, if you want to stop every few minutes when the little Blue Light comes on when using the floor mop. Ours is an older home with a textured Armstrong tile floor. I can routinely clean the dirt out of the texturing with a little "elbow grease". This product made steam but did nothing to clean the texturing of the floor. There is no way to guage how much water is in the reservoir, you just have to wait until it runs out, or set your cooking timer. Running out can't be good for the heating element so the best way we found was to use it for awhile, let it cool, drain out all of the water, refill it using the enclosed measuring cup, set the cooking timer and start again.
I then took in into the Master Bath. We have glazed tile shower enclosures and I thought this mop head should work on them also. Imagine my surprise when according to the manual there are no accessories for this type of cleaning. You can't use the mop head on walls, something else it won't do. So I began by using the "scub pad" and it quickly "unglued" itself from its adaptor and was down for the count. So I went to one of these little useless "utility brushes" . I could have done it faster by hand. The little brush was almost instantly bent over and useless.
My husband decided to give it a try and the while working in the bathroom the mop head began to leak steam like crazy and the assembly that connects the mop head to the extensions came out of the mop head. So that was now useless. He then decided to try to clean the shower doors which are glass and had a buildup of soap on them. He used the triangular brush to try to break the stuff up, as there is no accessory to "clean" this type of surface . It would only work for about 20 seconds before that dreaded "Blue Light" would come on and he'd have to stop. After finally completing the first shower door, it took about 20 minutes, he went over it with the "Squeegee" that he could only use for about 15 seconds before that darn light would come on again. He followed that up with a wet towel to remove what was left.
What we wound up with when it dried was "rearranged" soap scum. The streaks were gone but if you took your fingernail you could still write your name on the surface of the glass. This unit was delivered to our home on 7/28/2011. It will be on its' way back to QVC on 08/01/2011. One other thing you're not told during the demo, they give you the impression that anyone can use plain old "tap water" in this unit. This is not true. If you live in an area that has what's called "Hard Water" the manual tells you that you should only use "distilled" or "de-inonized" water in it. Additionally although they say the "mop heads" are washable that only applies if you use "LIQUID" laundry soap. If you use powdered soap you're going to have to buy a liquid soap just to wash these things. The bottom line here is if your house is already spotless this may work for you. Don't buy this unit thinking it will "Clean" anything in your house. If your house is spotless then you really have no reason to buy it.

Love my SteamMax! Thanks for Reviews!
Thanks to all the people who took time out to write their review for that's what influenced my decision. I am now a SteamMax demon! I have steamed my windows (inside and out) and now I can see through my windows, lol. I haved steamed my bathroom, my shower stalled and bath tub is white! I had a problem with flea's (this is the worse flea season in Florida). Steamed my dog's bed, steamed my carpet, steamed my floors, good-bye little critters. I am in love with this machine. No problems. Well worth the price. I even steamed clean my suede recliners!! Thank You, Thank You! Very Happy Customer!!
