K34181 - Starfrit Tap N' Chop Manual Food Chopper
Happy with this chopper
I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this little chopper since it was so cheap. I have been pleasantly surprised.
I use it when I need something finely chopped...like onion or peppers or celery. It works fine for me. You can't put in large pieces in it, like a whole onion or potato, but if you cut them in half or in fourths and then chop it works fine.
Threw it away
This was the worst chopper I ever owned and was very disappointed. Unfortunately, I didn't use it until my 30 day exchange period was up. After several attempts to use it, the blades not going down through the holes and falling apart, I finally threw it in the trash. Disappointing.
I ordered this item after watching demonstration (more than once) and thought it would be just what I could use. The only thing it worked for me was on celery - on bell peppers it didn't cut through the skin - on onions it mushed them instead of cutting them as demonstrated. I don't know why this thing didn't work for me - I thought maybe the food items on tv were put in freezer for a time to make them more solid - I don't have a clue why this "chopper" didn't work for me, but it was a mistake to buy it.
Why is mine not working like other reviews!!!..To me it is a piece of junk!! And I have tried it 5 times!
I use this chopper several times a week. It saves so much time when chopping eggs. onions and pickles when making tuna sandwiches. I like the way it comes apart for cleaning. The only complaint that I have is the blades are hard to clean. I bought a small bottle brush to be able to go in between the cutting blades to clean out the bits of egg left behind that I can't get out with my dishrag.
I would not hesitate to buy this again!
Does The Job
For the price, this is a nice item to have in your kitchen. The only thing I don't like is that the portion you put into the container for chopping needs to be small.
I don't like having to cut an onion or potatoe in half before placing it in the canister to chop.
But like I said....For the price, it's a good item. Cleaning it is a breeze.
Good value. Recommended.
great for 1 or 2 people
I love this chopper. I chop all my things that go into my salad ahead of time and put them in lock and lock 8oz bowls. it chops my coutons, tomatoes, boiled eggs. makes it easy to fix your salad. I also put fully cooked chicken breast in it to chop. love, love love it!! it is perfect for 1 or 2 people . its nice to chop into the little tray that comes with it. doesnt get crumbs all over!!
I bought a similar chopper 30 years ago, all it did was mash my tomatoes and put gashes in my potatoes. I thought in all these years it would have improved, but no such luck. With this new one I still only have mashed tomatoes and nicked potatoes. Maybe I'm not strong enough to get the plunger through the vegetable, but it doesn't matter, to me it is useless.
I had one similar to this many years ago, this has been improved with easier opening to clean. So far I have only used once but have hopes it'll do the job nicely. Saves all that chopping by hand. Also, my old one never had the cover on the bottom to catch the chopped food.
it chops great and is easy to line up when putting together, just wish it were dishwasher safe---how hard is that to do? Other 's do it with no problem. So it does take a bit longer to clean up--not too big a deal unless minutes count.
