Most of the recipes are recreations of the original. I was under the impression that it was going to be original recipes from restaurants the writer had visited. Not so. Mostly his recreations or his own recipes for similar recipes. Does have a few good sounding recipes that I will try since sending anything back to QVC is just way too expensive now. I am being much more selective of what I order now because of the shipping return cost.

I received this book on 9/17. I cooked the peach cobbler recipe. It was excellent. My family loved it.
Although I was raised in FL, my dad was from NC and Mom from Georgia. Many of these recipes were similar to the dishes that I ate regularly throughout my childhood.
I love the stories that are shared with each recipe as they are very well written and enjoyable. I will be cooking many more of these recipes in the future.
This really is more than a cookbook, it is a great read! I just love it.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Persephonel Did not include the recipe for hot beef sandwich
I am so upset, on air there was a hot beef sandwich with cheese and pickles! That was the only reason I bought the book! I was so disappointed to find it wasn't in the book! Was I wrong to assume it would be in the book?

received 9/19/15. Sat down to discover what goodies were included. Very disappointed. The recipes are what most folks fix everyday; no matter what part of USA you live in. I was hoping that there would be some dishes I love but don't know how to fix. For example cooked Pigs Feet [not pickeled], etc. As I know how to fix all recipes in the book will pass it on as a gift to daughter.

Just received this cookbook and it looks great. Can't wait to try some of the recipes. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed to find it did not include any recipes from "Florida".
Rated 5 out of 5 by Doxinmom Most enjoyable cookbook ever!
Being a Southerner, I know how to make a few of the recipes in this book already. What I am enjoying is the stories behind the diners, cafes and dives that Ben Vaughn visited and acquired or replicated the recipes from. I haven't made it through the whole book but what I have read so far shows recipes that are simple enough for even the novice to make with ingredients that are easy to find if you don't already have on hand. Nothing like good comforting Southern food and stories to warm your soul.
