F09173 - "Southern Plate: Classic Comfort Food" Cookbookby C. Jordan
i received this book about 2 weeks ago and made 2 of the recipes and they were very good and i enjoyed the stories to. i will be making more of the recipes i cant wait to make the mac and chesse, well let you know how it is.
Finally a cookbook with normal regular food! I am from Georgia, so southern cooking is what I live off of. This book has great receipes for picky eaters like me. The chocolate cobblers is very easy and makes just enough for the family without making a huge batch. I love the receipes for the food gifts. I will have to do this at Christmas.
I puchased the book based on the reviews. The pictures and stories are nice but the recipes are lacking. I followed the Hoe Cake and Mud Hens and ended up throwing both out. A co-worker also bought the book and was disappointed with the Mandarin Cake. Groceries too expensive to try any more recipes. Again nice stories and pictures, but I guess we need to go back to the Food Network..........................
Easily one of my favorite cookbooks!
I had to wait on the waitlist for this book, but it was so worth th wait! I have made several items from it already and each one is wonderful! Thank you Christy for bringing a great book with wonderful southern recipes to us!
Love this Cookbook
Christy shares her stories about each recipe and I think it is a wonderful idea. I think we all should preserve our families histories and the food that we share is just as much apart of our story as any thing else. Great Cookbook! Oh and the recipes are wonderful as well. My family loves the Chocolate gravy!
A MUST HAVE FOR ANY COOK
What a wonderful cookbook! Great Southern cooking, easy recipes, simple ingredients, and her stories are a delight. I made the green bean and corn casserole and my husband declared it a new family favorite. The blackberry cobbler was wonderful. Buy the book, its great.
These recipes look sooo yummy! I love the pictures and stories also! My family is from Chicago, but we are now living in Alabama. I bought this cookbook for the southern comfort food. I know my fiance will love these meals! I'm buying two more for my two newlywed sisters....whose husbands are also born and raised in Alabama. The recipes look really simple to make! I highly recommend this book!
I wasn't sure if I would like this or not. I can't quit reading it and planning my meals with it. I love it. The recipes are easy and I usually have all the ingredients that it calls for and it always turns out to be awesome! The pound cake with the custard sauce was excellent and the butterfinger cake was very good, I've only had the book about a month and can't wait to try more recipes.
LOVE this cookbook!
Just received Southern Plate and started reading it like a book. I have many cookbooks. This one is wonderful and one of my favorites! I love reading the stories, looking at the pictures and the recipes are great. Can't wait to start making some of them.

I have hundreds of cookbooks - literally. This one has leaped right to my list of top three absolute favorites - it's fabulous...!!!!!!
Let me just say I LOVE COOKBOOKS, I read them and study them like some people read regular books. But I NEVER buy them sight unseen until now. I got the reccomendation for this book from an online website and said why not. I am so happy I broke my own rule. There is such a wide variety of recipes and whether you are an expert cook or a beignner there is something for everyone. Beautiful pictures, great personal stories and wonderful southern homestyle recipes!
REAL southern food!
I'm "southern born and southern bred" and these recipes are the real deal! Loved all the stories and even shed a tear or two. You can tell that this young lady learned to cook at her grandmother's elbow! If you've enjoyed Paula Dean's recipes, you'll love Southern Plate.
