M27696 - Southern Casual Olefin Offset Umbrella w/Solar Lights&Base
Save your money do not buy
Bought this in Feb 2012 by time spring rolled around and we could use it was to late to return. Top solar light was broke from the get go never stayed secured on top, lights never all worked, slight breeze it would spin and tip the water baffle was not enought to keep it in place. Spent more time down then up and faded like it is 5 years old in just a few months ... so to the curb at the end of summer. First and last time to buy a patio umbrella in Feb from QVC .... can not return it when it is time to use and is useless. Waste of good money
I have had this umbrella for 4 years now. It has faded very little and all mechanical parts are still working like new!
Not that great
I purchased this to give us some shade at our pool. It's not as sturdy as it appeared on TV. We did have a few gust that took it down. The mechanism that is used to tighten it in place doesn't keep it from swing around. It doesn't stay in place very well. I'm hoping we can rig it up another way this summer so it's not a total waste of money.
Not Worth The Money
was excited when QVC featured this. Bought it and had no problem receving on time but never got to use it all summer. The ballast (the water filled plastic anchor) had pin holes in it and wouldn't retain water. Sent ballast back for another, and water leaked in the seam. Customer service was ery nice and helpful and advised to try using 4- 12x12 stepping stones to anchor umbrella stand down. Tried it, and the first attempt we made to use the umbrella, the string that runs through it to control opening and closing and it broke. Called the company in April 2012, and they were very nice, and stated that they would reship another frame. They strung us along 1 month at a time by stating that the umbrellas were back ordered and would be in by the end of the month. I called every month to check status and each month was told the same thing. We finally received the frame on Dec 2012 rght before Christmas. For the money we paid for this umbrlla, the workmanship is cheap and one must be very gentle when opening anc closing it or it has a high propensity to break. This umbrella is not recommended for a single female to handle as it weighs over 70 pounds and is very bulky. I would not recommend to a friend. Although the customer service was very nice, the company policy is not customer friendly because they should have offered some type of discount off the original price we paid for the inconvenience of not being able to replace a faulty product within a reasonable amout of time. Will never buy this brand again.
This thing is ok, I wasn't wowed with it at all. If it wasn't so big... I probably would have returned it. I had it on my patio... It is pretty when it's up. My solar thing never worked.
Not sure exactly what it did. The base is also weird. You have to fill it with water, and the cover for it always pops off and makes it look cheap. If you really want a nice umbrella I would recommend just going to a local store and skipping this one. Wasn't worth the money.
Cheap and hard to assemble
The first day it was delivered damage (solar-top part). First week or so the wind took apart the top flap(s) which in-turn torn the flaps and the lights barely worked. Before I ordered this beautiful looking umbrella I read the reviews and the ratings were low. I'm always givng people the benfit of the doubt which was a bad thing. Now, I have to reorder the top portion of the umbrella from the manufacture for this upcoming summer. Im thinking how much will it be for the top piece/flap.
so disapointed .first bladder wasnt sealed properly . so used sand bags . when putting umbrella down, a rib snapped when half way down .used 1 time . unbelievable ! no replcement parts and past warrenty .very exp. for a few days use . company should offer parts . next umbrella will make sure company will cover poor workmanship and will have parts avail.
Two times and still junk
We bought the umbrella put it together and within 2 weeks the handle had fallen off, the cover for the bladder had faded. QVC sent a new one and guess what, the handle had fallen apart the cover for the bladder had faded. Why would you only make part of the umbrella fade resistant, why would you make a product that self destructs within weeks and QVC why would you sell this product without doing any kind of test. I have not purchased too many things from the television and this reminds me why. Complete and total junk.........Shame on you QVC for selling it.
It was the perfect size for the space needed and looked great when we set it up. However, I only got to use it twice before it broke. The rib broke which then caused the rope to break. Wish it would have lasted longer.
Expenisve and disappointing
I purchased this umbrella and it arrived in May. I carefully read the instructions and we successfully put the umbrella together and followed recommendations for weather ie high wind, rain. As time has progressed the umbrella is falling apart. The screws and bolts loosen and seperate. The fabric has small holes in it.QVC was gracious enough to accept the return and the cost of shipping. If you haven't saved the origional packing UPS charges a little over 100.00 dollars to pack it for you. I decided not to retrun it due to the dollar loss but did purchase stronger screws and drilled bigger holes and added an extra nut for security.
This is also not a product for any one who has muscle or skeletal issues due to the weight. It is not as easy to manipulate as demonstrated on the show.
i am sorry I did not read the reviews prior to buying. alot of money for a product that won't last a season.
KEEP THE BOX!!!!!
Such a big disappointment here!! NOT in QVC though. Had the umbrella two days and the bladder burst. We decided we could live with that, we used sand bags. Had the umbrella 8 weeks, went to open it and the rope inside broke and fell out. Called the manufacturer and they said it was out of warranty. (the warranty was 90 days). We had words over that. Then they said we were opening it the wrong way - seriously???? They finally decided that they would send a part but wouldn't do that for well over two months. Called QVC, the wonderful woman who I spoke with took pity on me I guess and stated that they would stand behind the product given we only had it for eight weeks and spent over $300.00. LOVE QVC! This umbrella company customer service - not so much. I should have heeded the reviews.
I've been buying from QVC for years and this is the first time that I've been disappointed with a purchase. I have grown to trust the hosts and QVC over the years. I will proceed with caution from now on. Not sure there were reviews to read at the time I purchased this. If I had read what's posted now, I would not have spent the money for this. We purchased in the early spring and didn't set it up until June so we missed the 30 return policy. Our issue is with the bladder. We may try the tile suggestion or we may just put it on the curb for trash and chalk it up to an expensive lesson learned. So glad we didn't buy one as a gift for our daughter son-in law as we were originally thinking. BUYER BEWARE!
