FAQs

Q: How do I clean my water feature?
A:
We recommend that all our water features are cleaned every 2-3 weeks. To clean it, disassemble the water feature and empty the water. Gently rinse the inside of the bowl with clean, lukewarm water to loosen any debris. Using a clean, soft cloth dipped in lukewarm water, gently rub the surface of the water feature to wipe off dirt and unwanted particles. Do not use any harsh chemicals, such as bleach, or any hard-wire bristle brushes to avoid damaging the finish. Reassemble the water feature and refill with clean, fresh water.

Q: How do I get my pump apart to clean it?
A:
For birdbaths, lift the panel and remove the pump. For 2-tier birdbaths, lift the first tier to reveal the pump and detach from the tubing. Detach the pump away from the tubing or panel. Pull the pump in half at the seam. The filter is visible in one half, so gently remove and rinse with clean water. Replace the filter back into that half of the pump. Remove any algae in the other half by rinsing with clean water. Gently push the two halves back together. Reattach to the birdbath by pushing the pump back onto the panel and placing into the recess of the birdbath. For two-tier birdbaths, replace the pump onto the end of the tubing and place the first tier back into the water feature.

Q: Can I leave my water feature outside all year round?
A:
We recommend that all our water features are stored inside during winter and whenever there is frost or very cold temperatures. You should empty the fountain of all water, dry it off, and store the entire product indoors in a dry and frost-proof environment before you get any freezing temperatures. Simply empty the water out of the fountain. Covering it for the winter is not considered proper winter storage and any damage that may occur will not be covered under the warranty.

Q: My water feature does not work. What do I do?
A:
First, check that the fountain is positioned correctly, receiving sunlight, and not in any shade. Second, check that the connections between the pump and panel are correctly made and that there is no sign of rust or corrosion. Next, check that the filtered hole in the pump is clear and not clogged with dirt or debris. Finally, clean the water feature by gently rinsing the bowl with lukewarm water to prevent debris from building up in the pump and replace with clean, fresh water. We recommend regular maintenance and water changes to ensure optimum performance.

Q: My pump runs very loudly and doesn't pump. What do I do?
A:
The pump can become clogged with debris and may need to be cleaned. Guidance on this is stated above. If the water feature is running out of water, the pump can make a loud noise as it runs dry. Make sure the pump is fully submerged by topping up the water level in the water feature.

Q: How does my water feature work?
A:
The solar panel uses photovoltaic cells to convert energy from the sun into electricity. This electricity is then used to power the pump and circulate the water or create a fountain effect. Performance is directly related to the amount and strength of sunlight received on the solar panel. This product is designed primarily to operate in summer months but will also work in spring and autumn, provided there is adequate sunshine.

Solar Powered Birdbath Fountain with Decorative Bird by Smart Solar 3.9 5 54 54
For the Birds I returned this item because the fountain rarely worked well - even in sunny Florida and in less than a month, the coating started to peel off around the base. The birds liked it. 03-01-14
very cute I purchased this last year, in the Summer, and it works well. It's hard to find a place in the yard that is in the sun for several hours a day. All the great spots for it are in shade so If you have lots of trees, it will stop working as soon as a shadow goes over it. I have seen a bird or two sitting on it. I just purchased the new Bernini that was Value of the Day a few weeks ago and I believe that one will work anywhere in the yard, on battery. Can't wait to try it. 02-28-14
Just The Right Touch. Have this in my front yard and it works just great. Experimented with the different sprays and like the straight up bubble best. IT will only work with sun on it. But, you don't ever have to replace with expensive batteries. 02-25-14
Have Water Handy This is very easy to assemble. While I was putting this together where I wanted it, in the sun, the pump started running. I thought it would be like the solar lights that I had gotten before, that had to store up energy, but that is not the case. Just have a hose nearby to fill it, and she will start pumping. 02-19-14
Simply beautiful I just got this fountain 2 weeks ago and it is setting in my exercise room since it will be awhile before I can take it outdoors. With all the cold & snow & ice we have been getting, it keeps me looking forward to springtime. I wanted it last year but just never had the time to treat myself. So now with it on clearance I didn't hesitate. My song sparrows that nest in our shrubs around the porch are going to love it. I would have given it 5 stars, but I really need to see it outside working first. Hurry up Spring! 02-19-14
perfection This is my 5th fountain. Each year they perform and never fail to impress. The birds adore them and find a cool drink or bath. Easy to clean, and stand up to the weather changes. Put them in the garage when we go down to 35. I cant find anything negative to say. 02-15-14
Beautiful bird bath.. I will be using this. Whether the sun shines or not...the weight is perfect for me to be able to use and the price is cheaper than those in this area..Thank you!!! 02-11-14
Lovely addition to my garden I'm looking forward to hearing the gurgling of the fountain when I sit outside with a good book this spring and summer. My only problem was that one of the birds' beaks was broken off. I tried to get a replacement but was told that could not be done. The only option was to return the entire birdbath and have it replaced or receive a $10.00 credit to my account. I'd have preferred the bird replaced. 02-05-14
Looking forward...YAYYYYY!!!!! I have seen this fountain and loved it. I thought about purchasing this last summer. To all who comment on how often it needs cleaned ...birds love moving water, birds also need clean water just like we do. I clean my bird baths everyday, and everyone should !! So be happy to clean your solar panel, use a spray bottle of vinegar and water and let it sit a bit and it will be really easy to care for. I can't wait to get the fountain, and I can't wait to see my blue birds enjoy it. I plan on putting this close to their nest so this will be the first bird bath they will enjoy. 01-22-14
solar fountain if you put a chlorine tablet or a little clorax in the water it helps keep the water and basin cleaner for a longer time. 01-21-14
Pretty but needs alot of care As the title states, this is pretty but needs to be cleaned often. 01-21-14
Needs Lots of Sunlight This is a really cute fountain but it needs a lot more sunlight than my yard gets. My neighborhood is older with large established trees which is nice except when you want to put a solar fountain in your yard, lol. ;) So, I sent mine back. :( Having said that I will add, I would prefer if it ran at nighttime since that is when I am at home. While presenting it they say it runs during the daytime so we can enjoy it when we are at home but so many people are at work during the daytime it doesn't make sense to me to use the daytime running as a selling feature unless you're retired &/or don't leave home often during the day. So, if you're at home during the day enjoying a very sunny yard this may just be the fountain for you. If that isn't going to do the trick for you try one of the rechargeable battery operated fountains at QVC. I have two and they are just as cute and run on my schedule. :) 01-09-14
