Smithsonian Black Enamel & Garnet Accent Sterling Hoop Earrings

This beautiful nephrite perfume bottle is accented with a floral swag motif in yellow gold. It is a translucent green color and was probably made in the early 1900s. The nephrite perfume bottle was donated to the Smithsonian in 1981 and is a "treasure from the vault" at the National Museum of Natural History.

The definition of sophistication. Diagonal lines and leaf designs in highly polished sterling silver serve as a striking contrast against the black epoxy enamel background of these stunning earrings. The leaf motifs are further accented with a round, bezel-set rose blush garnet gemstone at the center.

J260160 - Smithsonian Black Enamel & Garnet Sterling Hoop Earrings 3 5 3 3
Enamel Is Nice For the price, these earrings are not worth it. The black enamel is very nice but the rose blush garnets are barely visible. I had no snap bar closure problems. 12-31-11
SNAP BAR CLOSURE PROBLEM When I saw these earrings on clearance, I ordered them right away along with the matching ring. I had to return the earrings because the snap bar closures were defective. When the replacement earrings arrived, the snap bar closures were also defective. I am so disappointed because the design is lovely. 09-17-11
Elegant, understated simplicity! Deceptively simple but elegant and understated. The enameling in the photo looks too bold but I have found them to be very 'quiet': they blend easily with office, dress, and casual wear. Depending on what I wear, they either make a statement or complete the outfit. They are extremely comfortable and wearable for long periods of time. I would consider these a light-medium weight earring. I forget that I have them on frequently. And, they are NOT too wide. A beautiful, imaginative translation of a Smithsonian treasure. 07-02-11
