BAD timing of purchase I purchased this solar birdbath for friends. Purchasing it in the winter time was wrong timing, you don't see the the auctual solar woring(charging). If it is overcast the fountain doesn't charge...Very disappointed with this purchase on qvc. 06-23-10
Perfect for me! I liked the birdbath but it seemed to get clogged easily and frequently. I put a nylon knee high sock on the filter to keep gunk out of the motor and put a penny in the bottom (under the motor) as well as another penny in the bird bath. This keeps the algae at a minimum if existent at all. Since I added these things I just sit back, fill it up every few days and enjoy!! No more clogging, in over a month!! 06-11-10
Also very disappointed My birdbath also doesn't work unless it has very direct sunlight. I even had to tilt it at one point to get the thing to run. I bought this in February and only recently put it together. What a mistake! Now I can't even get my money back. 05-08-10
Very dissapointed I purchasd this with the hope of drawing birds into the new neighborhood i moved into. We have few to no trees and I knew a fountain would help. I placed the solar panel in full sun for 3 days to charge. After three days I placed it in my garden with full sun. This fountain only runs when the sun is directly overhead with very low pressure. The birds do come but it is not worth the money. The solar panel does not stay charged and it barely runs in full sun. 04-20-10
Works great! To the person who wrote the suggestion about wrapping the pump in a nylon stocking, Thanks a bunch. I recently received some rediculously small nylon pant liners that I will be using on my pump. See folks, these reviews are so helpful. My fountain works great. I and the birds thank you. 03-17-10
Bigger than I thought Rec. this and was delighted! Larger than I thought and works so well. Can't wait to put in my yard whrn the weather warms up. 02-26-10
GREAT FOR BIRD LOVERS I love to watch the birds all year long. With 3 feet of snow the birds need food to eat, I enjoy, watching the birds flock by the dozens because the ground all covered with snow. Use this birdbath for bird seed. I removed the solar of course to use only for warm seasons. Place in a half shade by a tree so the solar will not be bubbling all day. Place a pot of your favorite flowers underneath the fountain. I know my neighbors love to watch the birds, we have a large variety of birds here by the bay in Maryland. I just order my second M15305 for my back yard. Need to clean the solar often in order to operate well. Love it! 02-15-10
solar bird bath If you want your pump to work with out getting clogged ! Go to the shoe dept. at your favorite store and save those little nylon stockings that they let you try shoes on with. Wrap one of the nylons around your pump( secure with twist-tie) it prevents debris from clogging the intake!! This works with any pump! Just use a larger nylon!! 02-15-10
A little disappointed Brought this fountain 2 summers ago. The solar part of it does not work well. It has to be extremely sunny for it to work. The solar part of it cloggs up. It still works well for the birds to drink out of it. That is why I gave it two stars 02-15-10
disappointment I purchased this a couple of years ago, it worked pretty good for the first 6 mo or so & then the pump died. I called in to the company& they replaced it shortly before fall so I just packed it away for winter & got it out in spring. It worked good again for about 3 mo & then the pump died & they replaced it again and that pump never did work right so I finally gave up & just use it without the pump as an ordinary birdbath. The birds loved it when it worked but it was just too much of a hassle constantly replacing the pump which was guaranteed to work for I believe it was 2 yrs. I was very disappointed in it for the price. 02-15-10
short term This fountain only worked only in blazing sun and then only rarely. Dirt in the well clogs up the fountain and I had to fight to get it to work. If you want something for one season, this is it. Want a fountain ? - get one that runs on electricity. Nice thought, bad execution 11-24-09
Waste of money This is a piece of junk. My solar panel quit after 3 months and they didn't bother to tell anyone it was guaranteed for a year. It took 4 phone calls to get it replaced and then the new one quit in a couple of months. It cost too much to send back so I threw the whole thing in the garbage where it belongs. I won't be buying anything else from this company. 11-24-09
