About Kenneth Jay Lane
Kenneth Jay Lane

"Women of all ages love costume jewelry because it's fun, it's fashionable, and it makes a woman feel younger." — Kenneth Jay Lane

Kenneth Jay Lane is widely recognized as one of the most innovative fashion jewelry designers. His clientele list reads like a Who's Who in Hollywood and glitters with first ladies, royalty, and movie stars. Born in Detroit, Lane attended the University of Michigan, majoring in architecture. It's still one of his loves, but he confessed he "couldn't do the math". He then transferred to the renowned Rhode Island School of Design where he got his bachelor of arts.

After graduation, Lane moved to New York, first working on the art staff of Vogue and then as an assistant designer at Delman Shoes. He studied in Paris with the great Roger Vivier and then moved back to New York to head up the Christian Dior shoe division. Lane's breakthrough idea of putting rhinestones on shoes — deemed silly at the time — resulted in creating earrings to match for an Arnold Scassi collection. After being featured in The New York Times, Lane began selling earrings in stores on Fifth Avenue within a month. As Elle magazine puts it, "Kenneth Jay Lane is the hottest costume jewelry designer around." His chic designs are always "just right" for any occasion.

J156984 - KJL Princess Simulated Sapphire Ring 2.9 5 9 9
big and beautiful i love this ring. i have seen two other replicas of this ring and they have nothing on qvc's. it is well made and i wear it on my middle finger as a coctail ring. i love the size and color of the stone! thinking about giving it to my best friends! 02-14-11
Too big for my taste. I think this is MUCH larger than the "princess" ring. Too large to be able to wear often (if at all!). Also, I agree with others that the stone is purple when you look at it in the sunlight. It seems to be very well made; it is just way too large to be believable. It would have been much more attractive at half the size, although, I should have read the description more closely and paid closer attention to the size stated. I returned mine. 02-02-11
Absolutely one of the Most Beautiful Rings! My sister bought this ring, and I missed out on getting one. I'm so jealous! It is just beautiful! It is the color of the BEST Blue Sapphires money can buy. Since most people don't ever get to see such large and best quality gems I can understand the surprise in the color. But that is the true color of them. At the time Princess Diana picked it out, I believe it cost between $62,000. to $70,000. Probably worth much more today. And for a Princess, such a beautiful and large stoned ring would only be befitting for her. Diana had a simple but elegant taste. Just like her. I do hope you bring it back. I'd love to have one. 01-23-11
NOT BLUE AT ALL, IT IS DARK PURPLE!! Nice ring, however it is not a sapphire. Sent back for my refund. 01-14-11
Bad, Bad, Bad I agree with the other reviews. This ring was a BIG disappointment. Too bad. Was really looking forward to receiving this. Back it went. 01-11-11
Doesn't look like a Sapphire! This ring is so disappointing...the simulated sapphire isn't blue at all. It is so dark (like a poor quality real sapphire) but when I took it into the sunlight to see the color better...it is more purple. Regardless of what color it is, it's too inky dark to be pretty. Additionally, the size is twice as large as Diana's ring, not practical to wear everyday for sure, and so heavy it keeps turning around on my finger. I expected much better quality from the KJL brand... the manufacturing looks fine, but it was presented as resembling the ring worn by Diana and now being given to William's future wife. Too bad, it would have been a lovely momento but I'm definitely sending it back 01-08-11
Not a good replica This ring is not a good replica of the original Diana/Kate ring. After I received my ring, I studied photos of the original, and this ring is considerably bigger. Really, it's so big that it just looks silly. Also, the band is compeltely different from the orginal ring. Additionally, I ordered my usual size, but the ring is too big for me. If I keep it, I"ll have to wear it on my index finger instead of my ring finger. I'm seriously considering returning it; I doubt that I'll wear such a big fake looking ring. 01-08-11
Love KJL quality! I guess since this ring is no longer available to order, this is a mute point. I agree with the only other poster, the stone is NOT blue. Only if looking in direct sunlight can you see the flashes of blue and purple. It is QUITE large! WoW! (Can you even imagine wearing this every day like Diana did?!) HOWEVER, KJL quality is remarkable! I wouldn't hesitate to order any of his other pieces. VERY well made. Clear stones really look like diamonds! :) Very special piece. 01-06-11
Stone is too large and not blue I ordered this for myself and for a friend but mine is going back. The ring is too huge to wear except for evening wear. The stone is dark and looks purple not blue like it should. It is a pretty ring but I would never get to wear it because it needs an evening gown. 01-05-11
