In my search for a Pet vacuum, this was listed in the top 3. I had already had the Hoover Pet Pro & needed a replacement. Dyson, wasn't an option. I refuse to pay that much for something. Found this deal and I'm so happy I did!
Tackles the pet hair on my couches like nothing before has.
Easy to use, love that you can get under furniture & beds. Easy to go from rugs to hardwood flooring. Super powerful. Easy to get into tight areas without the bulk of a huge one piece vac.
As a mom to 4 kids, 3 pomeranians and 2 cats, this is the A+ choice!
Rated 5 out of 5 by asmith9656 What have I been vacuuming with all this time?
I'm going to state up front that I just received this product less than 24 hours ago. I have not been using it for an extended amount of time so I cannot attest to the longevity of the item. However, I'm so thrilled about its performance that I wanted to go ahead and provide a review while all of its glowing achievements are fresh in my mind.
I live in a large, fully carpeted (except the kitchen and bathrooms) apartment with two, always-shedding, solid black German Shepherds. My furniture is gray and orange, the walls are off-white and the carpet is a light beige shade. In other words, dust, debris and dog hair show up on EVERYTHING. We have owned two vacuums since getting our own place almost four years ago; both were purchased from Wal-Mart and neither were up to the task of cleaning up after a German Shepherd. In fact, they hardly sucked up anything, and really only worked as a decent vacuum should for 2-3 uses (and they smelled HORRIBLE; no amount of filter-washing, cleaning or hair removal could get the smell of wet dog out of those machines). When we adopted another GSD last month, I decided enough was enough and began looking for a Shark.
I was not a believer in spending more than $60 on a vacuum before this machine (hence the horrible performances of my previous investments). My mom purchased a Shark about a year ago and I loved using it when helping out around her house, but as a newly graduated college student, I knew I couldn't possibly afford to buy a $200+ vacuum cleaner (student loans are real). When I finally got around to looking on QVC and found the Shark Navigator not only available with 6 easy payments but also on clearance and with free shipping, well... I made an impulse buy (I mean, I read reviews first, but it was really love at first sight).
I only had to wait about 5 days before this beauty showed up on my porch. I had it assembled in less than five minutes (I was admiring each attachment along the way) and away I went!
We'll start with the maneuverability, since that's what most customer complaints seem to be about. Yes, this thing has a swivel head which will take some getting used to if you've been using a stationary-head vacuum cleaner all your life like me. I'm proud to say that I had it mastered by the time I finished my 16'X16' living room. The weight of the vacuum, in addition to the sucking power, actually helps you drive it; most the time, I feel like the machine is doing all of the work for me.
The best feature of this machine, however, is the sucking power. I honestly felt like the Shark was pulling itself along just with the power of its suction. The ability to adjust this based on floor type and level of dirt is just unbelievable. I hadn't vacuumed any of the rooms in the apartment for at least a week, and it was obvious just how bad my old vacuum cleaner had gotten; the Shark was likely picking up dog hair that had been shed last year.
This brings me to another point that a few reviewers had: canister size. With my previous vacuums, I had to empty the canister 3-4 times per room (I'm not really sure why because it wasn't picking anything up). With this baby, I only had to empty it twice for my 16'X16' living room, and once each for my 16'X16' master bedroom and 12'X16' office/guest room. Thanks to the quick release latch on the bottom of the canister, the dust went into the trash and STAYED THERE. Let's just say that I was ecstatic.
Lastly, the attachments are fantastic. I didn't realize that it came with a hardwood/tile reusable swiffer head and I wasn't really sure what the caddy was for (like I said: impulse buy). After taking care of the carpet, though, I tried the swiffer-like head. I WILL NEVER SWEEP AGAIN. I had literally just swept the kitchen the day before, and when I went over it with the Shark, that reusable pad was completely gray. I also used the upholstery head to vacuum my couches and throw pillows, and now they practically look brand new!
All in all, I am not a bad/lazy cleaner, but with bad tools, I might as well have been. I have become a firm believer in investing in top-quality cleaning tools, and I will NEVER go back to a Wal-Mart vacuum again. If you're on the fence about this one, buy it. You won't regret it, and your house and all of its inhabitants will thank you.

I needed a vacuum that could go under the beds. Shark Navigator is heavy and very hard to maneuver with the canister attached or on the caddy. Doesn't work as well as my $35.00 battery Shark or $65.00 Dirt Devil.

Love this vacuum!!! It picks up all my dog's hair from the carpet, the sofa, the loveseat, everywhere in just 1-2 passes of the vacuum. Love everything about it. Lightweight, mobility, extension of the wand & tools, EVERYTHING!!!

I couldn't believe the dirt this pulled out of my carpet! I had vacuumed less than 24ht before this came in and then vacuumed with the shark. I was shocked. This is my new favortie household gadget!

OMG im in love with this vacuum! As an owner of 2 massive dogs that shed constantly i can honestly say this vacuum is amazing. I used to have the dyson animal complete vacuum that constantly got clogged/stopped running/parts breaking and i got sooo fed up especially after spending the $$$ on that thing.... i finally caved in and got this shark and im not disappointed one bit! highly recommend!

You already know the quality by the name Shark but QVC made buying one much easier!
Rated 1 out of 5 by Paula-Red Very Heavily
I am returning the product. It is much heavier than appears on demonstration. It is hard to hold the vacuum part in order to get under furniture. In using the canister the wand is unstable and does not stand on its own. The one good thing I can say, is that it does have good suction. I hope Shark improves on some of these issues. I will buy it again at that time.
