Q: What's MagnaPin?
A: MagnaPin is a high-quality, reusable magnetic accessory. It's used as an alternative to attach any item with a pin shaft (pins, brooches, name tags, etc.) to fine garments. Use MagnaPin on fabrics you wouldn't pierce with a pin, such as satin, leather, suede, linen, silk, and fur.
Q: Will my brooch slide along the pin shaft when on the MagnaPin?
A: No. The small "V-channel" on the top of the MagnaPin contains a substance that grips the pin shaft and securely holds your brooch in place.
Q: How do I successfully push my pin through to the back of the MagnaPin?
A: The first time you use MagnaPin, you may encounter slight resistance when inserting your pin shaft through the V-channel on the top. Not a problem! Simply insert it into one side of the V-channel, pull it out, and insert it through the other end. Once the pin is inserted, it'll feel snug when you move the MagnaPin along the shaft.
Q: Will my pin shaft bend when I insert it through the back?
A: The material inside the V-channel is quite strong, and most pin shafts won't bend when inserted. However, if you're concerned this may happen, insert a safety pin first. Once the material in the V-channel has been pierced, subsequent insertions of shafts will be easier.
Q: Can I use the MagnaPin for attaching corsages and boutonnieres?
A: Yes. However, it's recommended to use two MagnaPins when attaching flowers to a garment. This will allow you to balance the flowers and secure a strong connection with the garment. Refer to the written instructions and illustration on MagnaPin packaging.
Q: How powerful is the magnet?
A: It's so powerful that it can make a connection even through fur. However, this also means that it makes a connection with nearby metal objects. Store the MagnaPin in a separate place away from jewelry.
Q: Is it possible to lose my brooch because the MagnaPin isn't strong enough?
A: Very unlikely, due to the significant strength of the magnet. Be careful not to seriously snag the brooch/pin on any object. If you're concerned about the possible loss of a large or valuable brooch, use two MagnaPins — one on either end of the pin shaft.
