piece of trash These are a piece of trash. You can't add soil to be able to plant anything. The soil pours out the bottom as fast as you pour it in. What a waste of money, wish I had sent them back. 06-01-13
PRETTY! Once I figured things out I was on a roll. Yes, it was a bit of a challenge at first but I love a challenge. My suggestion is do NOT buy 3 or 4 inch potted plants. Buy the little packs with 4 or 6 plants in them. My arms were not long enough to hold the plants in place in the bottom couple of layers but I got past all of the little challenges and now I have two VERY PRETTY Flower Towers. Make SURE you keep them watered!!! I do love them and SO MANY people have commented on how pretty they look. I put in Raspberry Splash Petunias mixed with White Wave Petunias. It really is stunning. Have FUN with this great concept. 05-18-13
Plants dry out, cheap I feel plants dry out way too quickly and watering is not even. I was also disappointed in the quality of the product. Flimsy plastic for a planter. I also agree with other posts that the planting process is messy. I was excited about the concept but this product falls short. Willl build my own for less money next year. 05-15-13
Love It !!! I cannot believe some of the reviews! A little common sense when using this is all that is needed. I am small and have small hands, so I had NO problem with scooping the soil in. The vidio was helpful, because it says to fill to just below the holes, add your plants, then more soil until the next level of holes. I bought a flat of cute Johnny-Jump-Ups and filled the planter, adding 3 more to the top. I did not have a problem putting the plants through the holes. They are packed tightly together, and yes they need to be watered everyday, but what a dramatic and beautiful planter I now have. We have had it planted for 2-3 weeks and the plants have almost covered all the plastic. I have had so many compliments on it. Yes, some water leaks out of the bottom, but I expected this. It is plastic and snaps together. We are painting the outside of our house and have moved it numerous times. If moved carefully and correctly, it should be fine. Ours have not fallen apart. This is a stunner! I love this purchase! 05-14-13
Flower tower Don't pick up the flower tower after filling. The bottom will fall out! 05-03-13
More difficult to use then it looks I bought these because the concept seemed really good. It is more difficult to plant this then the product demonstration made it look. Because I found the planting process to be more difficult and messy than I remembered from the TV presentation when I bought it, I decided to go back and look at the video presentation included for this item on the website. I think it is very telling that they didn't actually show them trying to plant the item - they only showed them talking about how to plant it. In actuality, it is a very messy process. When you scoop the soil into the container, because the soil has a long way to go into the tall vertical container, it can't help but start to spill out all of the holes on the way down. It made a big mess. The holes are also very small -- too small for even the tiny little plants you buy in flats at the garden store. So it becomes necessary to hand compact the root ball of those plants so they will fit inside the holes. That also makes a big mess, and probably harms the plants. When I finally had it fully planted, and then I poured water down the tube as they show you to do, the water pours out the sides and all the holes, and at the same time, causes loose soil to pour out of each hole, further contributing to the mess. I am only planting one of the towers for now and will give this one a week to see if the flowers take, or if the soil continues to run out of each hole. Overall, I would say that I am disappointed in the product and I am sorry I purchased it. Also -- at least during the presentation I watched which is the one that made me purchase the product, the man was shown using a little piece of plastic that fit around each plant and snapped it into place (and presumably helped to keep the soil from running out of the holes.) These plastic pieces are not included with this set, so I'm not sure why they were shown in the presentation. 05-03-13
Waiting for Results I was really excited to receive these and I did so the other day. I mainly wanted to plant all kinds of herbs. I went to a close by nursery that I shop at often. I had to spend over $50.00 for the potting soil and the plants. I did not by 30 plants because of the expense. I also purchased some flowers and I planted everything yesterday. I think people should be aware that there is quite an expense even after the purchase of the two towers. I only used one tower. Even thought my plants were tiny, they were too large to stick in the hole so I had to remove alot of the soil around each plant. I think the directions are lacking some very important specifics such as the actual size of each hole. And, also, that there is quite an expense in what you have to purchase. I still have to buy more plants to fill the top two rows. I will wait to see how this one does before I invest in any more plants for the second tower. I am most excited to see how my herbs do. One of the herbs I purchased was mint but they advised me at the nursery not to plant it in the tower because it will take over the whole tower. Is this true? 04-22-13
Unsuccessful :( Could not get flowers to grow in this ???? I tried a variety with no success. Not sure why...perhaps because it is black and the roots would cook from the beating of the sun? Your guess is as good as mine. Funny thing is when I put the last two survivers into a pot, they took off !! 04-18-13
Tower has to be made! I thought the tower was already one piece. In the box your receive a flat piece of black plastic that you have to roll and clamp wall and base togeather to create tower. I was doing something wrong because mine would not hold. I had to send them back to QVC, 03-06-13
Bigger than expected I put one of these together as soon as I got them and was surprised at the size. Can't wait to plant my little tomatoes and strawberries now 03-04-13
Unique Concept!!! I bought mine last year and bought 30 impatient plants that come in a 6 pack. I planted the plants and added the dirt as I went making it easier to put the plants in. It now sits next to my front door and has actually survived through the low 30s in southern CA. QVC should definitely bring back this planter and other unique planters." 02-26-13
Concept Good I bought this last year, but found it needed lots of water. Perhaps it was the type of potting soil I used. However, even though I poured the water down the center tube, the water would leak out the bottom or run out the sides before the soil could soak it up. Did not retain water very well. However, once the flowers started to grow, they covered over the platic tubing fine but I still had to water it every day. It dried out quickly. Even with the plants filling in the holes, the water still seemed not to filter down to the bottom portion or it would run out the top two rows of holes and not get to the bottom section. After the season was over I took it apart and will put it back together again this year to see if I have better luck. 02-26-13
