Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the little academic! I bought this for my 4 year old and she LOVES it. I do it with her so it's not too difficult at all. There are plenty of activity's to keep them entertained and even learn. My daughter loves to learn and know the why's of everything. If your little person has an inquiring mind and love for learning this is a wonderful gift to give and something fun to do together. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only OK My son liked the activity with baking soda and citric acid, but many of the other activities did not hold his attention as much. We had hoped these to be good afternoon activities, but some of them required waiting for 2 hours (and one for up to 2 weeks), which my son wouldn't have the patience or attention to come back to the experiment. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Educational Fun! This is such a great educational kit! It's not only a fun learning experience for your child, but also for the parents. The kit offers great, easy to follow directions. There was minimal clean-up as well.My child loved it, I loved it because she stayed entertained for hours! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of activities I ordered this kit to have some fun when my 5 and 6 year old grandsons come to visit for a week of "Grandma Camp". I have not used the kit yet, but have opened it to be prepared as to how it works and know what it contains. The kit says for ages "5 plus" and I agree that the experiments would be appropriate for that age. However, even though the instructions are written toward the child, the child must be a reader, so I would give the instructions about "for ages 8 and up". The instructions and the outside of the box also lists "adult supervision required." This is necessary to make sure that the experiments are done effectively and safely...nothing really dangerous in the kit...I just know how things can get out of hand with young children and a big mess occurs! The kit comes with cups, petri dishes, measuring spoons, certain powders (chemicals) and magnifier to conduct the experiments. There also is a list of general household items that you will need for the experiments. There are 14 experiments in the kit and it is not necessary to do them all at once but some of the materials (liquids, etc.) are used in the next experiment and the instructions are clear to save that material for the next activity. The instructions are step by step, include fun facts, a simple chemistry explanation of what went on in the experiment and additional ideas. I think that this will be a fun activity to do everyday while my grandsons are here and I think will stimulate their curiosity about science and the world around them. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice idea... My daughters are 7 and almost 5. The almost 5 year old quickly lost interest. My 7 year old was interested at first but started to get bored...I was hoping to only do one or two experiments at first, but did not realize the first 6 experiments require something used in the previous step so you really need to keep going. I was hoping for stand alone experiments since I know a lot of kiddos have a hard time paying attention for extended periods of time. I would also have liked to have 2 manuals...one for my older daughter to read and perform the experiments independently (with supervision, of course) and one for me to help add more detail when needed. However, I loved having a fun, educational activity at my fingertips that did not require advanced planning/research on my part because, with my busy schedule, we never would have done chemistry at home without this! I look forward to finishing up the experiments another day when we have more time and focus! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Memories I decided to get a chemistry set because I had one as a child and I love it. MY 3 year old was not as enthused as I was about it. My 2 year old on the other hand likes it. He currently has to look at his food thoroughly under the microscope before he eats it to see if he sees anything. For a my first set it is pretty good.
