I got this phone this afternoon and it was up and running in 15 minutes. The longest part was setting the phone up. I had my red card handy and followed the instructions on the blue Tracfone card. Got my number, minutes were already downloaded onto the phone, and I was all set. I never even had to talk to anyone. Apps and settings easy to follow and use. Reading the other reviews I was a little worried about making this purchase, but it was smooth sailing right out of the box. I have been a Tracfone customer for about 5 years now. This is my first Samsung and I opted to get a new phone number and start fresh. My LG phone up and died on me. So I lost everything anyway. I am pleased and recommend this phone.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my Mother who would only be using the calling feature in emergencies. Phone would not make or receive calls although 4 different (English as second language) Trac Fone reps we spoke to assured us we were in an excellent coverage area. Trac Fone reps said the problem is with the device or phone itself as mine did not show a PRL number under settings to show it is receiving a signal from nearby Verizon towers. Trac Fone says we were sent a defective device, and they would not replace it as it was not purchased from them. So back it goes to QVC.

This is my fourth Tracfone I have purchased. I prefer this type of prepaid cell phone, it is a good way to provide it to teens in my household without incurring outrageous monthly cell phone bills. What I do not appreciate is the ridiculous amount of time you will need to spend on the line with the Tracfone customer rep. to get it activated. All of the four times I have spent any where from 1 hour to 4 hours!! Knowing this is the case, please be prepared to have a lot of patience and time to hang on the line with Tracfone if you plan on purchasing this type of cell phone service. Another tip is to also make sure to manually turn off the mobile data function on the phone or else it will drain all the allocated time.

The phone worked for 2 weeks and the sim card died. I was traveling which put a damper on communicating. Contacted tracfone though chat and was told a new card would be sent out. I waited 2 weeks, no card. Contacted them again, no record of my chat, no ticket number. New card sent out within the week. Working so far. I didn't realize this phone doesn't have FM or a gyro for skymap. My fault. My LG had both. I thought the battery would be better than the LG, but no luck there.

What a mess. I have used Tracfone for over 14 years until now. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to activate this thing...spoke with 4 different reps...thought things were ok till I found out they changed my phone number and never carried over my old minutes...so back on the phone... again over 1 hour with a rep and guess what I got my old phone number back and my minutes added but to do this they had to deactivate my phone than reactivate it. Well yep, off goes my wi fi and then the rep said "no problem" I can help...her way of helping was to HANG up on me!! AT&T here we come!

Several relatives had recommended TracFone, so when old cell phone started having charging issues, got one.
My old phone was basically just a phone, this is like a little computer, and has about as many options. Would recommend, if giving to someone not used to the technology, that you help set up.
The phone is nice once you set up and learn how to use.
I would suggest:
1. Fully charging before doing anything
2. Reading all directions ,The little video is great for how to put battery in but does not show how to use
3.Not signing up for all the extras until you know the basics.
4.Not putting in password until you know at least how to use (so annoying to have to keep re-entering as timer set short to preserve battery but your learning curve might not be that fast.)
5. Think about a simple password, the picture option is more easily messed up by nervous fingers. (You can change to something complex when comfy with device).
6. I could dial out quickly but not answer phone, when they wrote swipe right , they mean just that, not just any swipe. Took me awhile to pay attention to that phrase.
I could go on, I do have an older computer and a Kindle fire, but this still took some work and some re-reading of directions to set up.
I am past 65, for younger ones, they can set up in their sleep, for those of us not so tech savvy, it is not intuitive, but, it is worth doing. Once set up and you know how to use, it is easy. .

Purchasing and in-puting user preferences for this product went very well. It looks like it would serve my purposes nicely. Then I hit the wall of trying to get it activated. I was transferring service from an older Tracfone. I tried to use the online method and was given an error message to contact phone customer service. Called customer service and went thru all the steps but activation service could not be completed. I was given a ticket number and told I would be transferred to a higher tier of customer service. After an hour's wait, I hung up and called another toll-free customer service number listed on the Tracfone website. Gave them the ticket number and once again was told I must be transferred to a higher tier of customer service and was put on hold. That was now 7 hours ago and I'm still on hold.
I'd hang up, give up, and call it a bad deal, but my old phone was de-activated in the attempted transfer process so I have no active cell phone. I live in a rural area in the Northeast, now in the season of snowstorms and bad weather. A cell phone is as necessary as snow tires for safe travel.
I understand that this is peak season for Tracfone. I get it. But this is unacceptable customer service performance. If they want my business, they need to provide the level of professional service that was promoted in the on-air presentation.

I was apprehensive in making this purchase. I love Samsung and had been spoiled by my last phone.I have had this phone for about three weeks and absolutely love it. I had no problems setting it up and the reception has been excellent. I was concerned about the memory being to small but that can be taken care of with a memory card which this phone will accommodate. This is ideal for me since it has no contract and minutes will carry over as well as triple when I do have to purchase more. This may not be good for individuals that use a lot of data. I would highly recommend this purchase. I also purchased the three year service contract which will cover drops and spills.
