A: Yes—in fact, it will upconvert most standard DVDs to near HD level. It will even play your music CDs!

A: Unfortunately, this unit does not record.

A: Yes, but you will not get HD performance.

A: Yes, however the TV can only display its native capability, 720p for instance.

A: Initial set up is simple; the player features a built-in walkthrough, and you simply click Enter on options such as language.

A: There is no Web browser, but you can access a variety of content with Samsung Apps, Your Video, and Search All. It opens up a world of options for finding videos, shows, games, information, and more on your TV.
Q: What are the Apps that are built-in?
A: There are over 100 apps available to this player including Netflix, BlockBuster, CinemaNow, Pandora Radio, ESPN and many more.
Q: Are they all free or do you have to pay for them?
A: Most apps are free but there are a few that are paid. In some cases, Netflix for example, the app itself is free, but the service requires a fee.
Q: Is anything else needed for BD Live to function?
A: As long as you have an internet connection, BD Live is ready to go.
Q: Can the firmware be updated? If so, how?
A: Yes. First, we recommend that you register your Blu-ray player with samsung.com and you will be alerted whenever there is an update.
To upgrade via LAN or WiFi, with no disc in the tray, open the players menu, then navigate to System > System Upgrade > Upgrade Start. If there is an upgrade available, it will display a dialogues box asking if you wish to upgrade. Select Yes, then Start and ENTER. After the Update Completed message appear, the player will power down.
If you prefer to upgrade via a CD, make sure your PC has a CD Burner, go to samsung.com and find your Blu-ray Player's page. Select Product Support > Downloads. If there is a firmware upgrade available it will appear on this page. Double click the Zip File, and AGREE. Copy this file to your desktop, then burn it to a CD. Place the upgrade CD into the BD player's disc tray and close the tray. (Verifying Firmware message appears A) Wait 1 to 2 minutes until the tray opens. Remove the upgrade CD and then use the direction keys to select "Yes". [Press] the ENTER button on the remote control to begin updating the firmware. The disc tray will remain open. Allow the firmware process to continue. "CD-UP" appears on the BD player display. Wait 4 to 5 minutes for the upgrade to complete. The BD player will automatically power off.
