Other than the typical slow response time (every player I have had did that) it is a good player. It comes with smart apps such as Youtube,Hulu, and Netflix.I have only played DVDs so far but they play well. Also, you can put movie files on a thumb drive or DVD without having to burn them to DVD as DVD files.I do this so I can watch BDrips on my HDTV.

We purchased this Blu-ray after our old Samsung blu-ray quit working. The one feature we really hate about this new machine is that when you finish watching one episode of a series it automatically starts playing the next episode on its own. If you get up and leave after a episode finishes it starts into a new episode with or without you. You can not stop this feature.
The picture quality is good.
We ended up using our olld remote as the new one is not compatible with our sharp aquos TV.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Dove22 nice BUT
Slim design, easy set up but there is no indicator light when you turn the power on. That's the only fault I can find with it, other than that I love it!

Just received yesterday, opened package and was disappointed the product did not include a HDMI cable to connect to TV. Had to go out and purchase the cable which was an inconvenience. Also the Power on/off button does not light up when the unit is on, so I don't have a way of knowing the unit is operating. QVC Easy Pay was a great option and I like the "smart" features - accessing Netflix, YouTube, etc. 1080 resolution is great for enhanced picture quality. I'll need to use the item a bit more before I can endorse it fully, but so far, seems to be operating well.
Rated 5 out of 5 by PCortez I have several Samsung BD players.
What I like about the BD-J5900 is the Power and Eject buttons. A power on LED would be helpful.
The TOOLS feature is easy to use.
Rated 5 out of 5 by 7DayWeekends BD-J5900 Blu-ray Player is Excellent
Extremely easy to setup, and just the right sort of "smarts" to interact with our Samsung TV. Put in a DVD -- that automatically starts the player, turns on the TV and switches the TV's input to the player. We have perused some of the apps available and expect we'll use Amazon Prime regularly. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note tablet, and the BD-J5900 provides easy-to-engage screen mirroring to the TV, including disabling the speakers on the tablet and projecting the sound to the TV speakers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Linkinators Stopped working in less than a month
No lights or anything to even show you that is on
Stopped working in less than 30 days used it for 3 days
That will teach me, back to their competitor
Rated 4 out of 5 by PCTechLarry This product is lacking a convenience feature.
There are NO lights to indicate it is working or turned off, it's just a black box.
Other than that, it's a great, inexpensive Blu-Ray Player!
