Advice: Cut Off the Elastic on the Heel Strap
I ended up liking these after hating them for a bit. I had huge trouble trying to get these on with how tight the elastic was. I wasn't wearing them so figured what harm would it be to try cutting off the elastic....HUGE improvement. Now, my fav shoes to wear on the treadmill.
Just ordered my second pair of the Travail Fisherman Shoes. Very comfortable shoe to wear. Have my first pair just about worn out. My feet get hot in 'regular tennis shoes' but with the mesh incorporated throughout and the heel held with a backstrap there is plenty of air circulation. You really can notice a difference! Have rec'd many compliments and requests to know where I purchased them. I wash mine in the washing machine. Stand up very well!
This was my first experience with ryka brand. I normally wear an EE shoe, but I was pleasantly surprised when these sneakers fit very well in the single wide width - especially in the last (footbed). Unfortunately, the material was soggy and although the footbed felt great - the sneaker wasn't secure enough for me to exercise in. I'm sending them back.
I was so disappointed with this shoe. Not only is the shoe extremely difficult to put on, there is not much arch support. I was so looking forward to wearing this shoe on vacation; however I returned it the same day I received it.
Love my Ryka shoes
I am very pleased with these. Another pair of Ryka's I wore right out of the box - no break-in time required. I normally wear a 9 1/2 but I took the advice from a review I read & ordered a 9 instead & they fit perfectly. So, they must run a little large. Very happy with this purchase.
very comfy - once you have them on
These shoes are very comfy once you have them on. Just like the other reviewers I feel putting them on is the trick. You can't slip them on because the back elastic does not make that easy. When you put them on you need to hold onto the back elastic strap and hold it out of the way so your foot can slide in. It's a llittle inconveinent if your in a hurry. Otherwise, onece you have them on they are very comfy. Very roomy in the toe box.
Fisherman shoes by Ryka
got the shoes....I did order them 1/2 size too big...but I wear thick socks...love how they felt and walking was great...no problem getting them on...and I have 3 outfits for the blue and pink that I ordered
These were comfortable right out of the box. I have rheumatoid arthritis in my feet and hands and I have to agree with DHK, I could not get these on my feet easily because of the elastic(thus the reason for the 4 stars). But because they were so comfortable and roomy enough in the toebox I decided to keep them and I just cut the elastic, now I can easily slip in and out of them. I think will order the khaki ones too.
Too Difficult to get on
I have arthritis in my fingers and it was just way too painful and hard to get these on. I didn't know that the elastic on the back of the shoe is sewn to the strap which has the velcro on it and therefore you can't open the shoe up wider to get your foot in it. I have a small narrow foot and it took forever to wiggle and push my foot into this shoe. I love how these shoes look and I thought they were comfortable once I got my foot in there. I gave them a one star because, for me, it was too hard and painful to get them on. If these could be redesigned to totally open at the back of the shoe rather than have elastic there I would purchase this shoe in all the colors they make it in. I thought of clipping the elastic but I don't want to spend over $60 on a shoe that I have to alter to get my foot in so I will be returning these.
love the shoe
I love the fit of the shoe and the way they feel while I am walking. Would agree that they are a little hard to get on but are getting use to them.
8th Ryka - 1st Disappointment
Incomplete engineering seems to be the main problem. I really thought these were the perfect shoe until I walked in them. The outer shoe is fantastic in structure and style. The scientist in me started investigating: The padded sole is cut for an arch support, but there is no such support. The length is fine, but they are too roomy - in a medium. There is a bungee, but no way to adjust it. I hate to return these - If they are redesigned, I will buy the first pair!
can not get these shoes on
These shoes are nice looking.....however how do you get into them? I have narrow feet and there is no way to wear unless you break down the heels . When I saw them on the show, I thought the velco on the heal would totally open; HOWEVER the strape is sewed shut. I have many Ryka shoes which I wear all the time. I like Ryka because they are shoes made by women for women. Someone messed up on these.
