Ryka Stroll Leather & Mesh Lace Up Walking Shoes
Bought a pair for my Daughter
I had bought these when they were a TSV and loved them. My daughter commented on them one day when we were walking. I ordered her a pair and we both wore them walking the other day. She really likes them as well. We both have the black and pink pair.
I have always purchased RYKA as I am a serious walker. This pair is nothing like my previous purchases. I love the ortholite technology and this shoe does not have that. It seems like there is next to no padding in the shoe. I would have returned these but I buy ahead so that I have a new pair when I need them so are stuck with them. They are "for show" shoes. I'll only look for ortholite in the future.
Love these shoes!
I am very surprised with some of the negative comments as I find these shoes to be comfortable and consistent in sizing. I have bad feet so I am very picky about the way a shoe fits. I am back to order more, in particular the blue (or periwinkle color) as I have had many compliments and no issues.
I jog every morning and my ankles were starting to hurt from my previous sneakers (i'm only 28!) So I knew I had to switch, these are my first Rykas. I've only worn them once as they just arrived in the mail but I already LOVE THEM! zero pain in my ankles my first time in them, I was shocked. They feel supportive through the arch etc and I run on a gravel/dirt road and I can feel whats underneath me but not uncomfortably. They are completely comfortable. I feel if they were any thicker in the soles they would be stiff and uncomfortable. I ordered an 8.5 and I'm usually between an 8 and 8.5 but I sized up because previous reviews told me, and that was a mistake! Now I'll either pay shipping two ways or just keep them even though their a little long, so thanks a lot to the people who said they run big, they dont! And as far as the width, my foot runs a tiny bit wide and these are plenty wide enough, so comfortable!!!
I love Rykas, they are the only athletic shoes I buy. But these are a big fail for me. I over-pronate, and that is one of the things I like best about Ryka, they really minimize that for me. But in these, I have more pronation than just standing barefoot. I tried putting arch supports in them, that didn't help. Also, they are a flimsy shoe. There is not very much cushion to them, and I can't see them being very comfortable for any amount of time or any distance. I got the black and pink, and they are really cute, but I need more than cute. If you do not have foot problems, or aren't looking for a lot of cushioning, then these might work for you. I unfortunately have to send these back.
The heel surface is rounded and causes tipping. I don't like them for walking. I am a Ryka woman, and have had to buy a half size up no matter the style, no problem--I am an 8 in Ryka's is how it is. I do feel the design of this pair, however, is the worst I've had.
I ordered this shoe for a walking shoe in white. I just recently opened them even though I ordered them several months ago...could not use them with the terrible winter we had. I loved the look of the shoe and was excited to try them. However, after wearing them to the doctor and to run a few errands; my feet were "killing" me. They seem to run "short." I have purchased Ryka in the past and had the same problem. However, it was a different type of shoe so thought I'd give them another try; but had the same problem. If Ryka is going to make their shoes with the same sizing method...I think customers should be advised to size up. To the question about recommending them, yes I would if the sizing issue is resolved.
Best sneaker ever
Very comfortable sneaker. I have a wide width and high instep, I have never wore a more comfortable sneaker. A lot of times you have to break shoes and sneakers in not these. All I wear now are Ryka.
Not the same
I walk 3 miles each morning and loved my Rikas in the past. These are not the same. Heel is too wide in the wide 7.5 and that was the whole point that Rikas are made for women and wide does not mean wide heel. I am very disappointed. Blisters on my heel. Won't purchase again. Review your claim about made for women. I beg to differ!!!
I am usually very happy with Ryka shoes, but these were too tight across the top of the foot. I tried changing the shoe laces, but it seemed the more I wore them, the more uncomfortable they became. Really disappointed!
I really love these sneaks. If ordering I would order maybe a size larger if you are going to wear a sock. They seem to run a little small which is great for me because I just about fit into a size 5 and I had to buy a lighter sock for these but they are very comfortable. I have some foot problems and have to give up on sandals for summer and these are great. They go with shorts and are very light.
Ryka walking shoe
Very disappointed compared to same type that I bought a few years ago. I ordered wide, but they didn't fit me. And I noticed, the rubber at the heel was much thinner/lower than previous running shoes from Ryka. When I compared these shoes with my New Balance running shoes, they looked much smaller and narrower in size. You wouldn't believe they were the same size. I thought they would get better after a few weeks, but my feet hurt, decided to no longer to wear them.
